wreck my 87 and might replace it with a 84...would like to have the composite headlights, so I guess my question is, anyone have any problems swapping the stuff from the radiator support forward?

Topher: consider them ***** busted, i aint mad at ya.

Actually G-bodies we're axed in 88, with like you said Topher, Monte's and Cutlass' living till then, late 86 has composite lights and all 87. There we're no 88 Regals or Grand Prix. Sorry to hear about the car Monte LS....1 good luck swapping your swap.

Found a super sweet 85 ss. Cars like new. Has 73K original miles. everythings original no dents or body work done to it and interior looks new. Been in this guys basement for bout the last 10 years. They bought it brand new here in town. Only thing is he wants 8000 for it and i dont have it right now.
beings that the euro front end lasted 2 years, does that mean I had some like rare car and didnt even know it?

Of course he didnt stick around and then you get screwed. Sorry to hear. Maybe you'll see him somewhare. I wouldnt worry about the car being super rare though. GM made so many g bodies over the years it will be a while before the see any real gain in value which will probably be negligable.

I just read thru this thread and got a lot of good info, but still have some questions. I am getting ready to put 6.0L LQ4 into my 79 Malibu. I was planning on using BRP's engine and frame mounts, LT headers, and LH8 Oil Pan. I am also planning on using Iceman's tubular transmission cross member.
My question is has anyone used these headers headers with a TH400? Did you have any problems? With the BRP headers are they clearing the stock steering shaft?
This car is going to be used mostly for drag racing with weekend duties so the only accessories are going to be a alternator. I am running Manual steering and wondering if anyone else is doing this and how does the low mount alternator fit while using the BRP mounts?
Also has anyone used the GMPP Muscle Car Oil Pan Kit? The part Number is 19212593 and is about $100 bucks cheaper than the LH8 Pan that BRP sells. I have heard they are the same pans, but wanted to know if anyone has used it yet. Thanks in advance.

My brother used the LH8 pan on his 64 buick special. That is the same pan as the GMPP Muscle Car oil pan kit comes with, he just didn`t buy the kit because it was on backorder.....but they had the parts available separately....just the price ended up a little higher.

i have the BRP motor mounts for my 81 cuttlass. i got the universal gbody mounts, not the ones theat move the engine up and forward to fit the a/c. i havent had any trouble with alternator interferance. i had a/c interferance and oil pan problems and #8 coil problems. i took the route of cutting the frame and heaterbox to make the LS1 fit. i'm not anywhere done with my swap but the engine fits in the car now.
alright i have some questions too. i'm looking at getting new gauges. what i'm trying to find out is if annyone makes gauges that will work with the LS1 senders and computer? Is there such thing as an aftermarket speedo that can work directly from the LS1 computer? is it possible to get oil pressure, and water temp that will work with factory senders too? do those signals go through the computer first or direct to gauge? are there more than one temp sender? sorry if the questions seem kind of dumb, i'm just trying to learn here. thanks.
