Next I have to fix a few hiccups (water pump neck we made needs welded) also, does anyone know why when I hooked up the firebird brake switch now my DRIVER SIDE brake light doesn't light up???

My stock switch had two wires on the back, three on the front. I thought back were CC, left unplugged. The three on the front I knew one was hot, one went to third brake light one went to brake lights (I thought). Wire the two brake ones together. Third brake light and PASSENGER SIDE brake light work. Driver side does not and it has new bulbs...
Very nice...like this a lot.

What's up guys? New guy here. I never even considered an LS swap in my 86 SS but I came across a smokin deal on a 2007 GMC 3/4 crew cab 2 wheel drive truck with 74,000 miles that I couldn't pass up ($500) so now my Monte is LS bound. I'm a long time member on G-body forum & have been a member of the NMCOA for about 20 years. Any way glad to be here & hope to learn from all of you guys. Here's a link to my build thread on GBF. http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?...2#.U5Oylom9LCQ

Question for anyone that has.done this swap with a 4l80 and a floor shift. I cant get my factory floor shifter to work. The location of the shift arm on the 4l80 is further back than it was on the 200r4. The so the cable is pulled back into an S, and its to tight to work. Any suggestions?

Search through this thread a little harder, some guys have used a cable for a B&M shifter and modified it to work with the stock brackets.

Dave,

Can you get a straight on side shot of your car? I may have stained my pants a little...

Thanks. It's not looking so flattering now, it has wood blocks in between the control arms holding the front end up. Just waiting to have funds for the control arms and coil overs.

It's gonna look sick with the front wheels matching too. Trying to decide on doing the barrels or centers black.

Don't have a side view, but this is how it sat with the v6 in it.

Moroso drag springs and Metco upper and lowers and a ATR sway bar in the rear and a factory replacement spring up front with a coil cut. And Comp Engineering shocks.

Going to a coil over set up in the front and undecided on what to do with the rear at the moment.

Trying to get it running first!

Ok guys, quick question. I have a modded stock harness in my Monte and I am little confused where to run the Park/Neutral wire. Can I just simply ground it or does it need to be grounded to the stock NSS since my harness does not utilize the trans NSS.

And does it seem odd not to be using the transmissions' neutral safety switch?

Ended up having to get a new trans since mine had mechanical issues. Plus I was not getting a reading, electrical wise, to the transmission. Now it is at a performance shop for the trans swap and they suggested getting a transmission control module to run the transmission. I guess if I go that route, that would render the t43 TCM useless?

Set back plates help with PS pulley to steering box clearance on truck accessories. Plus depending on pan, it helps provide additional clearance to the crossmember.

^ That said above is correct as far as the forward limit is correct. There is a real fore/aft engine position "sweet spot" with the G-body that will give just the right clearance to accommodate the truck accessories up front, provide enough room at the rear of the engine for the coil brackets and transmission dip stick to clear the A/C evaporator case without notching it, and most importantly, allow the engine to be installed at a desirable inclination angle without interference with the floor tunnel.

The reason everyone has been using 1" set-back plates is because they allow the stock drive shaft to be reused with a 2004R equipped car and to accommodate the oil pans that have been on the market to date. Another reason for their use is the fact that nothing in between the 1" back and "stock" location plates (excluding the adjustable plates) has been readily available either.

The disadvantage of using swap plates in this application is that they do not allow the engine to be installed low enough to be able to optimize the engine inclination and U-joint working angles. When you scratch design a new set of direct-fit engine brackets and a completely new oil pan like those coming from Hooker/Holley, you no longer have to make such compromises in the location of the engine in order to address the shortcomings of another component in the mix.

does anybody have any pictures of f body accessories in a g body? Specifically looking for alternator to steering box clearance.

I have an ls2 out of a gto and it has the Mitsubishi alternator that has a longer clutch style pulley on it and I'm a little concerned with if it will fit or not.

I can post one up for you in the morning that shows the F-body alternator proximity to the steering box when using the new Hooker mounting brackets.
As you mentioned, the GTO alternator is slightly larger and may have clearance issues.
