145mph with the top down . set it on cruise control like that for all of 10 seconds.
my ears were ringing from the wind noise.

I've been to 130 and there was more left in the car. I have never
topped it out.

If you are running it like that I expect cat overtemp protection
will kick in before you get to top end and that will dog out the
motor big time. Takes tuning to make it capable of clean sustained
high output, stock it's only set up for sprints before dumb stuff
happens. Of course if you unprotect the cats you can expect to
chew up the catalyst over time.

cat overtemp protection is where the computer dumps extra fuel in an effort to cool down the cats.
i have cat overtemp protection disabled. if my cats go, i'll just gut them - they're mac cats.

when you say it wouldn't go anymore, did you just let off when it hit 4th gear?
hell, i had a crosswind too (didn't feel it so much with the top and windows down, but really felt it with it up).

well first of its an a4 and what I mean to say that it struggles to get past the 130 mark with the top down.

it's understood it's an A4 (m6 would be doing about 7600RPM in 3rd at 130mph).
130mph is right around where the stock A4 shift to 4th is... and 4th does not pull anywhere near as hard as 3rd.

i have a magazine article that tested a stock 98 or 99 they tested to 152 top down and 157 top up. sorry, i havent been over 105, i value having my license. over 100 , automatic suspension. i was on the freeway and normally when i go to pass (with 2:73s) between 60-70 kickdown is just ok but i was going 79 then kickdown to pass a truck and in a blink i was going 105 or 110. i'm sure the trucker was pissed.
