Default My C-5 solid axle conversion. No 56k

I started out trying to make a 99 FRC vette have 1000 rwhp. I was going to do a twin turbo setup and still have the 6 speed trans. I got the motor done and put a 250 shot on it just to test it out and to test all the hardend parts I put in the drive train . I went to the track only to find that the car was very hard to get hooked and would make enough power to get the car loose at half track and this was on 28x11.5 hoosier slicks. It was also very hard to shift the car as the drivetrain was twisting soo much it would want to bind up between shifts. I knew I was going to need an automatic to be competitive and to keep the car planted to the track at full power. If it was this bad with just 650-700 rwhp it would be very dangerous at 1000 rwhp. I then saw Paul Majors car and another paul from corvette forum and their solid axle conversions that neverlift did. I figured if I could do something very similar but more streetable that was what I was going to do. I thought about putting Yanks th400 in the car but it would still have the weak rearend in it. I was not going to spend 10,500 for it either. So this is my solution . It is not for the faint of heart and is not pretty but it will hopefully work. I built in alot of adjustment into it and will be trying everything I can to get it to work. I will be retaining ABS , Speedo , and all interior and A/C. The combo is a Rossler powerglide and a moser 9 inch. This is a work in progress so it is not done yet, but I figured I would share my project. This is being done in my garage with limited tools. Im doing the best I can with what ive got. No bullshit bashing please.

great job- I thought you had air/water intercoolers to put in, how are you going to run the exhaust?

Thanks everybody for the kind words. To answer some questions.

I will be racing it at Moroso, Orlando, and Bradenton.

There is no room for exhaust now that the the trans occupies all the space under the car. It will come down near the oil pan then 90 out the the sides of the car.

I am still doing twin air to waters. I already had this intercooler and was seeing if it would work for now.

Very Cool that is one hell of a project you took on

As far as the exhaust you should be able to get a system on there with a little work we got 3" going all the way to the back.

Best of luck and keep us updated

Funny, I look at the pictures and do not think they really do the job justice. IMHO, it looks even better in person.

Congrats on staying on course, its not easy sometimes
