started the day with 3 pedals...finished with 2 pedals (VIDEO LINK) well my Liberty built trans has been working so well, i tried to find a few more hp to put through it. well i managed that, the car always keep me on my toes, so to speak (pun intended). today my pass on the bottle was absolutely wild!
i just installed a new set of lifters. went like so...
1.35 60' yanking the wheels and launching out of the hole a little bit bent outta shape, grab second gear and yank the wheels about 6-8" and i know i am on a pass, grab 3rd gear just before the 330' and that is where it got very ugly.
as i sit hear at my computer with my right fight elevated to help keep the swelling down on the 3 toes i think i might have broke, i am very thankful i paid $300 for a custom kevlar blanket for my bellhousing, no it didn't keep the track clean but there is only a small hole in my floor by my right foot, and the rest of the clutch and pressure plate were everywhere else!
much like last year when my G Force 3rd gear popped into 5 pieces, the motor revved up pretty quick on the jug, not a good thing. when i am up and moving properly i will do a compression check to see if i have any lifted ringlands, more than likely i do, but time will tell.
now you may be wondering about the title of the post..... when the clutch decided to leave it normal place of operation, parts of the bellhousing violently
impacted the floor, leaving me a tad bit on the gimpy side. well, needless to say next to the stud sitting on my floor from the flywheel after all of this, i found my gas pedal in it's final resting place!
all i know is i will be begging McLeod industries to get their bullet proof bell housing to the market ASAP! i have no idea how extensive the damage is, but it could've been contained with a proper bellhousing, which no one makes! i will see if someone can make a one of for me, because i like my feet right where they are!
my .02, never short cut on your safety equipment.
now i will remain 9oh until next year and i wil resume my quest for the next sinle digit. it is all GOOD

i added a quarter pound of air and tweaked the front shocks, and what i think also helped was increasing build time for the bottle. car left hard as hell
that is by far the scariest my ride has ever been through the first 2 gears!

glad to hear you didn't get hurt to bad...
I had a buddy almost lose his foot about 5 years ago as well when a SPEC clutch came apart. The gas pedal was cut off and had to be the most clean cut I ever seen.
he walked away with no issues other then a slightly damaged car

MAN THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I am glad you weren't injured to badly. The bad thing is Mcleod told me they had to have 100 orders to even prototype a lt-1 blowproof bellhousing. Might want to add some 1/4 inch plate to the floor board in that area to prevent personal injury.

On an LT1 Bellhousing it is not as deep as the LS1/SBC. The LT1 is actually the shallowest one they make since it is a pull style clutch. He could convert the front plate and input shaft to an LS1 but that would be the only way it would work. Then he could use the LS1 hydraulics and a Scatter Shield for the LS1.

only 1 broken toe, the other one is severly bruised/sprained. i will be back to 100% or whatever that is for me soon enuff. thanks!

thanks for the tip, i have a feeling i may be at the Street twin's limit? dunno i am waiting for a call back from Mcleod. funny thing is i seem to break everything that never breaks, lol!!! i have had ZERO issues with the performance of the clutch. it is NOW seeing approx. 1000fwhp, and it was performing exactly as it was supposed to. maybe it was just due to be changed. or it could have been a flaw in the valeo pressure plate?

From that picture thank God you have your toes that looks terrible. Glad your ok. Wondering what causes something like that is it just with high horesepower cars?

i spoke to mcleod, but not the exact person to answer that question, i believe it is high horsepower, but not yet certain. believe me i have put this clutch setup through it's paces over the years as my hp has increased in the car. it has been an awesome clutch setup. i highly recommend it to anyone making any amount of power! just be prepared to break a few parts

ya, makes me happy my clutch just stopped working instead of exploding like that at milan.

glad to hear you are gonna be ok. let me know what they say about the bell housings availability. i know someone who has wanted one for a while now for his blown LT1 and hasn't been able to find anything.
