Damn Taner, the main thing is you are not severely hurt!

Knowing you, the minute you get the car back on the track, you will not be the least bit apprehensive to drive it like an animal again! LOL

correct! well the car is stripped down, ready for some floor reconstruction as well as wiring repair. trans is back at Liberty to get checked and fixed and I am dropping the motor off to friends house for teardown and inspection. plenty of time to get things straightened out.

Thats good to hear. Any piks of the floor for guys like me who are having trouble justifying spending $500.00 on a part that not only makes you car heavier but does nothing for performance. I ran my LS1 to 8 grand in all 4 gears for 2 years before I decided I liked my feet better than money.

Good luck, Tom

That sucks, they were $375 direct from them last week. The new distributor, a sponsor (can't remember which, they have a thread over in the manual section) jacked the price to $422.xx. After talking with QT though I would but a McLeod for the same money. The QT bell uses an aluminum motor plate, Mcleods is steel. I would hate to trash a block just to (possibly) keep from doing a little grinding on the oil pan. A big reason I cancelled my order. Maybe I should have kept it and sold it for some easy profit Post those pics Taner, the rubbernecker in me can't wait to see them!

I dont think the grinding is as unnerving as not knowing where to grind. They should put a template in the box to guide you. Here is where I ground on my 01 LS1 block.

give'em a call if you would like. i am waiting to see exactly what direction i am going as far as my 6 speed is concerned. i will probably convert to ls style. mainly due to the power/weight of the car i am pushing through the clutch.

Taner,

I apologize for sounding ignorant, but I am new to this chevy stuff. I have a stroker LS2 I am putting in my Mustang( I know, but I can't afford to buy a camaro right now and my car is done) and I want to continue using a stick.

Did you start off with a factory t56 and then send it to Liberty? What clutch is able to handle the power/abuse.
Do you know if anyone has used a Liberty Shifted Tremec TKO and had success?

My car has to weigh 3200lbs for the class I am going to run, how heavy is your car?

Thanks,

Damon

We all use a Mcleod Clutch. I do believe taner uses a Twin Disk While Joe and I use a Mcleod Slipper Clutch.

I am pretty sure he had Liberty take a Viper transmission and convert the front plate to an LT1. What I can't answer is which Viper they used as I haven't spoken with Taner since they did it.

As for the TKO, we have a place here in town that bought one of there TKO 600's and he loves it. It is in a Mustang GT. He uses a Spec Clutch to my knowledge.

yes on the twin disc.

i know nothing about TKO's? Joe and Amber have a response for you there.

my car is 3550 with me in it, the lighter the car the easier it is on trans parts
