Default Anybody using these Kirkey seats?

These are Kirkey intermediate seats (kir-36900).
I got a good deal on ebay for a pair with covers and mounts, but now I'm not so sure....
The car is nearly impossible to get in and out of because of the rib supports.
I've never had race seats like this before, so I don't really know what is normal. Is it difficult for those of you running the economy & pro-street seats to get in and out of the car? I'm about 6' 200lbs so I'm not a huge guy or anything, but it's a struggle.
This is with a wolfe 6-point roll bar.
Would it be worth it to try to modify the seat? Basically trim it down to be level with the door bar?

I'd get a welding shop to cut that area out and reweld it back flush. Then have an interior shop fix the covers. I could see how those would be a huge pain to get in and out of.

I was thinking I could cut so it's flush with the bar and then split some rubber hose and put it over the cut edge to keep it from tearing up the cover rather than do any welding. I don't know how that would affect the structural integrity of the seat though.
Then I'm still looking at needing to pay some to make the covers fit. I'd still be ahead of buying new seats, covers and mounts, but I sure would be spending more than I planned on.
I really thought that for what I paid for these I would be happy with them, but I've got to look pretty retarded struggling to get in and out of the car.

What did you pay for them?

From what I've seen, most people on here love the Kirkey Pro drag seat. It is what I ordered and they are comfortable considering what they are..hah

I paid $350 shipped for 2 seats 2 covers and mounting brackets. Quite a bit cheaper than buying new stuff especially considering I'm not much for fabricating so I'd be buying mounts.
The seat is pretty comfortable once I'm in it, but it sure is a lot of work getting there.

You saved, what, $100? You'll spend more than that fixing those.

How do you figure? Seats are $150 each, covers $100 each, plus $100 for mounts and then shipping. More like $300 less than new. That's not the point though, I'm asking if anybody has tried modding seats and covers and how it turned out. If I have to I can sell them and try to recoup my money.

I think I paid $220 for a seat and cover combo from Burkhart. You can make mounting brackets for a few bucks. Besides, whatever mounting brackets you bought probably don't include any brace to the roll bar which is mandatory with these seats.

I have that seat. I ordered it by mistake and I really wish I had the other style, but now I have it so oh well.

Is it a whole lot harder to get in and out of the car than it would be with the pro-street or economy seats? It looks like it, but I've never had the other seats.

The economy seat has bolsters that can get in the way also.

I'm using the Racecraft brackets. It is well worth the $49 + shipping.

My brackets cost me about $12 and work great. And you still need to brace it to the cage.

Yeah, it's going to need to be braced to the cage whether I keep these seats and mod them or get new seats. I think I'm going to see what it will cost me to have an upholsterer fix the covers. Maybe I can weasel my mother in law into fixing them. If I can get it done cheaply I'll give these seats a try, but I can't use them the way they are.

I can't see it being a whole lot easier with the other style. I'm 6'3" 275 so it's hard for me anyway.
