Default those who went A4/A3 to Power glide

Need some info from people w/glides.....I have researched for hrs. on this site ...most of the info I have read is from folks that have never ran a glide ,are not running one and heard from a friend of a friends,uncle's-mother -sister ect. ect ect..... .

My car is around 500 hp n/a...12 bolt w/4:11's .I will be spraying 100-150 on top of that.It weighs around 3750 w/me in it.my 4l60 e broke 3 weeks ago.I have a built glide w/a ultra bell and pro brake.I would like 2 know from those who went from A4 or A3 to glide...how it affected there performance ie: 60 ft...1/8 et....1/4 et....trap speed ect

I've never ran a glide but at 650 hp I think a glide, not having that 1st gear, is gonna kill your 60' and ET.
With 650hp, you could put a good th350 in there (that's what I used at 750hp) but with your heavy raceweight, I think a good th400 would be your best bet. You'll probably have to take those gears down a notch also, depending on your tire size maybe 3:73's, 3:55's.

I would definitely go three speed at that weight. You need the lower first gear to get that thing moving.

I went from a m6 to a glide, it was fine out of the hole...i cant tell you how it changed the holeshot due to the fact it had more power when it went together. But I can say that ill never look back, i love it and I even drive it on the street.

My car weights what yours does. I can tell you it takes a lot of power to get out of the hole but I love my power glide. You will have to spray it right off the transbrake but I think it will work for you.

Default thanks

Main thing is I have the glide already....so... Crossmember 239
drive shaft 350
L/C dip stick 100
Stall conv. 700
total 1389.00

I can get a good th400 built fo $900.00 but I would still need all the above. So that total would be $2189.00

I was thinking w/the glide I would loose 40 lbs. ,gain about 20 RWHP and the glide has a brake. So with these 3 factors I might 60 ft just as good.I am about to loose my mind trying to decide....lol

get a PTC converter and leave off the brake, you wont have ANY issues. To build a 400 the same as the glide you could spend alot of that money to make up any difference, such as new shocks or something. Nothing wrong with glides at almost any weight, in fact with a heavier car being able to hit it with more out of the hole with less traction issues is one of the main selling points

I have had traction issues.....the 4l60e would shift about 1 car lenth out....where is the best place to get a ptc converter and what can I expect to spend on 1.....also what stall speed do you think would be would be good for my combo

call PTC converters (muscle shoals AL) they will build it specifically for you, and they are only about $550 i think.

I welded a bracket onto my crossmember so you can scratch the 239 off of the list if you have any fabrication skills. I also modified the factory shifter to work with the glide and retain all of the factory safety features

Hey if you already have the glide put it back there. Try and get a good converter for it.

I recently decided to pull the 4L80E out of the truck due to the new 418 and N20 I plan on putting through it (It was a stock 80E). I spoke to 3 reputable trans shops. Every one of them told me a 400 would 60 a little better but I would have a better ET and mph with the glide dispite the slightly slower 60 foot simply due to the . Every one of them also said the glide would be way more consistant and with the right converter my 60' would not suffer much even at my 3,525lbs.

I have not taken it to the track yet but plan to in August.
