How much did it cost from where? Was it a drop-in replacement? I ask because I have been told on another board that it was not a direct replacement. Thanks!

The 98 tank is 18 pounds heavier than th e99 and up AFAIK.

I am really interested to see pics of the speed glass installed in a STREET car.

Anyone have pics of a fourth gen with this setup?

How did this work for you?

What about the A.I.R. system delete on a 99 car. I know people remove the air pump and plumbing. Can the codes be deleted and how much does this all weigh?

I've heard that a aluminum radiator can be 40% lighter than a stock radiator. I have looked thru all 13 pages of this thread and no one mentions anything about this. Has anyone compared the weights?

Any trick to changing out the fuel tank in a 98 for a newer plastic one.

What about those aluminum radiators that Jay Billingsley sells. Are they lighter than stock? What about that fan assembly? Sounds worth while.

The stock radiator is pretty light and aluminum.. most aftermarket aluminum radiators also hold a lot more water which would also add a lot of weight to the front of the car.

Ok guys I got some weights for the list.
Bogart D10s from SJM:
15x3.5 - 9 lbs
15x9.75 - 11.5 lbs
Moroso DS2 Front tires 26/15 fronts - 12 lbs
M&H Cheater Slicks 26/15/11.5 - 21 lbs
Total weight 107 lbs.

Not bad considering my ZR1s and tires weighed in at 216 lbs!

Also, the wiper motor and mechanical assembley for them was 13.5 lbs.

Quick question: What's that cylindrical canister (black plastic) tank right next to the coolant overflow canister? It's right by the horn on the passenger front. Can I take this out? It looks light, but hey, it's something.

Anyone know the weight of a stock SS hood? I am switching from my stock Z28 hood to an SS hood. If the stocker is 50 lbs, like said, I would like to know how much is saved with the SS hood...

If you're referring to switching from a stock Z hood to a stock SS hood, I'd say you'll gain a small amount of weight instead of shedding any. That is of course if the SS hood is stock and not fiberglass. Good luck.

The stock SS hood is fibreglass, but very high quality, very stiff, thick. I have it in my head the OEM SS hood weighs in at 55 pounds, I was thinking about going to a VFN fibreglass hood (13 lbs?) and those numbers are what's in my head....

Wow..scratch the idea of losing any weight if the stock SS hood actually weighs 55 lbs...

Yup. I'd go fiberglass. The RK sport SS hood is SUPER light, but I hear has a few fitament issues. It's worth looking into if you're dead set on an SS hood.

I did the swap and the ss hood is lighter. I didn't have a way to weight them but I remember reading in post that it's about 15-18lbs lighter.

OEM to OEM, I find that hard to believe. I hope I'm wrong.
