OK, So I get a lot of mixed views on auto vs. stick. I hear that stock for stock a MT will take a AT. Well, I dont see why, beings you dont have to let off the gas to shift. Then I hear a stalled auto will kick a MTs ***....Please help me settle this debate.
Thanks

Stock for stock the M6 will have the advantage so long as the driver is competent and the track is at least descent.

This argument is only about 30 yrs old
With a good driver, the M6 does not lose much of an edge. There are several guys on here pulling 1.4 short times w/ a T-56, which was unheard of 2-3 yrs ago even in an automatic.
For CONSISTANCY, no doubt about it an A3-A4 is the way to go. But for pure fun factor and DRIVING the car to it's potential, there is no substitute

the only true advantage an A4 COULD have over the m6 is the 60' time and shift time...with a competent m6 guy shift time difference can be kept to a minimum so all else considered it comes down to 60's...but with an m6 12 bolt suspension parts, gearing & tires they can lay down some #'s...but then again so can an auto with a 4500+ converter, suspension parts, gears & tires...the a4 is generally easier on drivetrain parts because it preloads the suspension whereas m6 cars depend alot on their suspension & tires to get it hooked up launching from 5500-6500rpms in some cases

I'm not sure if this was mentioned or not, but I believe the answer you're looking for is this...
More power is lost through the drivetrain in an A4. M6's make more power (less drivetrain loss) so they are generally faster, not necessarily quicker.

I like to race anything within my realm whether it's an A4 or M6.
If you'd like to race me, BRING IT to South Florida! I love racin' other Girls. I have nothing for your 11.5 yet, but hey, I have skinnies/slicks goin on in the fall and I will probably go with a bigger cam.
There is always someone faster.....then again I could just spray ya with a 150 shot too or drive the other LS1 I have at home that traps 121 on motor built for nitrous and also and M6 oh yeah on QTP's as well.

10.8 @ 122 ALL MOTOR. I doubt a 150 shot on your current set up would get you around Lynda.

I saw what she runs. She can clearly read my sig and see my ET with my car. Although, as I said someone is always faster.
And again, I will re-state what I said....no torque monster with 450 RWHP.
I love to run any chick, she happens to have an all out race car whereas I do not. Let's see ya line it up w/ FEAR the LS1 he'd be a close race for ya....as I said, someone is always faster

Your sig reads impressively. But you have a lot of mods to get only Low 12's to high 11's.
Your mph is real nice, but the E/T does not match your mph.
My little A4 pulls 12.22@ 109 with a 1.67 60ft on drag radials ,with only mods being convertor, headers, cat back and little bolt on's . No pulley,no LS6 intake or ram air set up(yet).
Now on the bottle it is a different beast all together.
I am not slamming your set up at all. I am stating my OPINION about CamarCain's set up compaired to yours.
I wish i could trap 114 on motor.
Good luck with your Skinnies/slicks and bigger cam set-up.

[QUOTE=redsscamaroboy] Oh no? I'd like to see that car take her back and forth to work everyday with a 4400 stall and roll cage? Dressed for work mind you in heels...etc.? I motor in on my drag radials, race and go home without changing mine to a non DOT race slick.
I fail to see how my ET doesn't match my MPH. Bone stock with a lid my car ran 13.10 @ 108.77, with headers and gears 12.62 @ 111.3 and with a baby cam 12.37 @ 114.67 and 11.91 @ 116 11.92 @ 117 and 11.94 @ 116.9 in 39 degrees all on 1.7 shorts. I hope to see a 1.6 on a drag radial after the skinnies go on.
And just as we know some cars are lighter, some tracks are better, DA is better in different parts of the country. For what mine is, running full weight, full interior before the 12 bolt the car ran 12.62 @ 111.34 1.74 60' on drag radials. The cam that's in it now is so small you can't even hear a lope out of it.
BTW, my 12.37was my first time out w/ a cam shifting at 6600 with a clutch that was given it up by the time 4th gear came. I have a new clutch goin in and hope to see 11.7's out of the car full weight when the good air comes back next winter
Not trying to split hairs, but, Lynda's car is not an all out drag car in my opinion.
