Gotcha... Maybe they designed them to work specifically with there clear coat. I got this 3 can system to paint my helmet with and when I tried it out on some scrap first it had a dull finish until I sprayed the clear. Lot of xtra work to clear all those bars.

I used Rust-O-Leum Textured gray paint on my last cage. It covered well, and was shiny.

My guess, a bunch of sheetmetal, a bead roller to give it a little added strength, and an assload of stitch-welding, and some seam sealer on the bottom after ya shoot that with some paint if you want to keep the smoke out. Take pieces, put a bead down the middle of the piece or diag.... and then just trim it to fit down into the opening a touch.

That's how I'd probably do it anyway... pita, but what else can you do at this point?

My dad had a ramcharger just like that. It wasn an 86, even that same red. Red vynil bench interior seats too.. I loved that thing when I was a kid. I wish he would have kept it a couple more years so I could have gotten that when I turned 16... that thing was the best.

Well got the last couple headaches out of the way today. Got the dash bar done, cut out the passenger rocker bar and cut new stock for the driver front crossmember and passenger. The cage should be done by the 28th(right on schedule)

Phil,

As usual your work looks very good. You get it done. One question, if you have to pull the tranny I'm guessing you'll have to pull the motor or are you going to build a removable trans tunnel? Keep up the good work!!!

You can pull the tranny without pulling the engine, I'll have a removeable tunnel this time.

Looks like the hole for the TB feed pipe from the intercooler is going to interfere with the cross bar, maybe it's just the angle of the photo though.

Looks really good, alot of damn work has been done, and all in your own garage

I've got 4 bolt flanges on the way from chassis engineering to make the front crossmember removeable.

I have barely enough room to get past the crossbar. I moved it 3 times and know it fits.
