With the removable front cross member I'm assuming that's allowed on 25.3 unlike the 25.2 cert where it is not?

Yep, you need either 4 bolt tabs or gusseted tabs with 3/8" bolts through sleeved CM.

Bob,

You're stating that a removable front cross member is allowed in a 25.2 SFI cert.? I have the book right in front of me and I'm not seeing where that is stated. Sometimes these SFI books can bet a bit challenging to decipher. You refer me to "cmcc's[cmcc20 paragraph 4]" may I ask what is that? I own the 25.3 cert book but loaned it out so I don't have that to refer to at the moment. I also have the 25.5 SFI book and do know that a removable front cross member is allowed on a 25.5. I'm assuming that is were the 25.3 is similar to the 25.5?

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks man! We plan on going really f**king fast this year. Everyone thought 164 last year was fast to the 1/8 mile. Shawn and I are thinking 170-174.

the only reason money makes you go fast is because you pay for some one elses experience.... luckily phil has shawn to help him. (not saying that phil isn't experienced - but learning to get from low 8's to low 7's/high 6's is a task in itself)

oh ii know, but other teams also pay stupid amounts for the engines and chassis. phil and shawn have been working out of a home garage with phil dong all? the chassis building himself.

LOL... Some guys drop their cars off right after a race and pick it up a day before the next race and the chassis shop does the maintenance. I do 100% of the work on the hotrod, Shawn is responsible for the engine and tranny. I went 7.50s the first couple hits without trying hard. 7.20s and 4.70s came pretty easy. 4.40s will be tough.

i hope you did not think i was saying "phil doesn't do anything".... thats far from the truth as many can say... i was simply saying shawn has some expertice in tune ups and power management and that will go a long way in a small tire car.

..... as you were

I wish I had the $ to spend on my car that a guy that does this spends on having the maintenance done. That's got to cost a small fortune over the course of a season doing that... probably as much for a season as I need to FINISH my car.

Hell I'm looking at popping my tranny apart, and learning how to replace the clutches and whatnot myself just to save the time, and at the rate it's going, I'll end up doing the same thing with the motor, just take everything to the local machine shop and have it done, and assemble that myself too, just so I can get moving quicker with the available funding.

I know most of everything i know because i couldn't afford to pay other people to work on my stuff and i wanted to go fast.

A friend of my dad had a machine shop and i would hang out there-learned alot about machine work and building engines.

Had a guy doing my trans for free but he was too unreliable,so i bought a book and learned to do them myself

Wanted a 25-1 car, didn't want to pay $20,000 for my car to be done.So i bought a tig welder and a tubing bender and did it myself.

Just about every great in the performance world started in their own garage because they couldn't afford to pay other people.

Sometimes doing it yourself is the only way to go. Financially it saves you money, you gain control of the quality of the work, and you gain the satisfaction of building something and knowing you did it.
