I figured out a way on mine...but don't think it'll work with phil's EGT setup. The Altronics Red Alert EGT system has a 12V output that goes hot if any cylinder exceeds a predetermined EGT temp. put that output in a normally closed relay (to open it). that relay can control the BS3 ignition wire.

if it gets too hot, then the motor is shut down.

Will it then close again once the probe picks up that it's cooled off and then cause the relay to put power back to the BS3, or does it require some sort of reset first?

Good idea, should save some parts if something goes wrong.

I was thinking the same thing with a dry sump/belt driven fuel pump, run the belt off the dry sump pulley to turn the fuel pump, dry sump loses it's belt the fuel pump stops too, or set it up so they're both on the same belt or something.

need to use a latching relay or something like that...I haven't given it 100% thought...but you're right...I dunno how long that 12V signal will last.

Couldnt you use the starter switch or ignition switch to "latch" the circuit then if the egt get hot it drops it out and wont come back on until the ignition witch is cycled?

Hard at work today spending my birthday money.

We got some:
Motor plates
Lexan
Steering joint
aluminum -12 bungs
aluminum -10 bungs
aluminum O2 bungs
aluminum 5" elbows for the exhaust
aluminum 4" elbows for the exhast and intercooler pipes
straight 4" tubing for the IC pipes
v-bands for the exhaust and IC pipes
-12 and -10 fittings + hose
water pump fittings
rear end fill cap
carpet for the interior

Today I got the seat belt tabs welded in, picked up some more Dupont paint to prime the floor before I throw the carpet in.

I'm going to switch back over to the tig thursday and get the center crossmember flanges welded in and start on the driveshaft loop and the rear end driveshaft loop. Got some help coming over this weekend to finish up some small projects like getting the rear end primed/painted and paint the cage. Still have some more weight reduction to do.

I went with the bad boy 40 spline Strange axle package, they are sexy.

Happy birthday Phil, but how the heck do you get that much money for your birthday to order parts?

Congrats on the youngin'! Are you using a modified stock latch assembly on the doors or a fabbed one?

As well, I think Brady's gunning for you with his new setup.

I'm using the stock door striker that has been moved outboard 1.400", the factory latch was also used, I cut off the cable hook that attaches the inner door latch cable to the striker and welded on a 3/16" x 1" x .090 piece of chromoly that the balljoint gets bolted to for the new latch. I thought the latch was going to be harder than it actually was. It was very easy. I made a template out of a piece of lexan showing the centerline of the striker and the bolt holes, transferred the holes to the door and it worked without any adjustment 1st shot out.

Brady aint gunnin for my slow turd. He has his sights set on the big boys. His motor came out of very fast pro-mod thats been 3.8s @ 200 in the 1/8 mile.
