Depends on where and what you are welding, if you're welding in the plate on the frame to box it in you'd weld all of it, if you're putting a piece of floor in the trunk to cover the t-top hump you can make a bunch of spot welds.

Biggest thing when you spot weld vs. welding a piece in one continuous weld is the heat, doing a continuous weld on sheet metal will warp it, but if you want to weld all of it just make spot welds every inch or so and just keep going around the piece till you fill it in, main thing is not to have long periods of heat in thin metal, with things like 1/8" you can just weld away on it.

On my car I welded in the plates on the frame in one pass.

On the pieces in the trunk with thinner sheet metal I spot welded and will use body sealer.

Default New photos

Photo 1 shows the tub notched at the bottom to clear the LCA in stock location as well as with it relocated.

Photo 2 even though it didn't come out reads 17" from the fender to the tub inside on the dot.

Photo 3 is a shot of the rear piece I made to cover the removed t-top hump and back piece.

Photo 4 is an inside view of the tub, still have to make my upper spring mount though and get my new rear end so everything will sit behind the tub on the frame side.

Photo 5 is the ground to the top of the tub, it is exactly 35".

Photo 6 is where I mounted the factory fill tube on the stock tank side I am not using the side filler location anymore, it will be covered by a custom fuel door.

Photo 7 is a shot of the seat and passenger side tub.

Photo 8 shows the tubs next to the seat.

Photo 9 shows the rear seat back in.

Photo 10 is a shot of the drivers side tub.

Photo 1 shows tub all the way to bottom of the body.

Photo 2 is the t-top hump covered with the rear piece I made also.

Photo 3 is the tub and bracket I made to attach it in the rear.

Photo 4 is the piece of card board to make the side piece pattern.

Photo 5 is the tub next to the seat, it's painted because I thought of powder coating it and wanted to see how it would look colored, but I will be covering it with lightweight carpet to try to blend it in to the interior more.

Wow, it wasn't unitl this pic that I really get a sense of how wide the tubs are. So I'm gussing there's no way the stock side panel will fit over them, right? How do you plan to dress it up and make it look nice?

Those are not really that wide, I actually cut off about 6-7" off of the tub, from the fender they stick in 17".

I am putting the plastic back on, you have to trim it around the tub, then I will cover them with lightweight carpet, kind of like speaker box stuff, in grey so it matches with the floor and plastic panels.

I thought of after trimming the panels maybe covering them in fiberglass and shaping them around the tub so it is all covered in one piece, then maybe I could paint them in a grey wrinkle finish to simulate the plastic look, but most likely I will cover them in the lightweight grey carpet.

I just saved the rear seat because I have smaller kids and it's useful to have when we putt it to the store or go some place.

The car even though it still has big tubs and some relocated stuff 100% streetable, I am still stock internal on the motor, and I plan to get my new rear end and the rims and tires and see how the car works dumping the clutch at 6,000

Then I will spray 150 shot on it and play with that till I build my new motor, then I will just add nitrous till it blows up and see how fast a stock motor with nitrous can go

I also have about 7" above the rear tire which is 27.5" tall now, so once I go 30" I will still have about 6" of space to lower the car or go with a taller tire.

I have a center force DF now , if it lives it lives if not I'll see what the good clutch is these days.

I know someone that's a mcleod dealer.

I plan to go th400 down the road, once I do my turbo motor I'll run a power glide.

uh, is a vented gas cap in the car a good idea?
I am still going to do some stuff to mine first is going to be changeing the fuel system around a bit, then i guess put the chute on and hiem end lower bars in the back. I should put an extinguisher in it also (well nhra says i should) then it should be about time for the tracks to open up again around here, so then i need to see what happens with the limiters the way they are, on the transbrake. I would really love to rip a few 8's.
yup jason has one hell of a bro!

Cool if you need any help let me know I'll bring my stick welder

The gas cap won't be inside of the car, I just haven't added the cover yet, I am getting a little fabricated trap door deal.

The gas cap will be sealed outside the car technically, then I can pop the little lid up and unscrew the gas cap.

No rear firewall for me thanks.

Glad to see you made it out of bed this week

I don't race FWD cars

I am happy so far I haven't f'd anything up, back seat fits, tubs fit nice, just need a rear end, some rims and tires and I have me a 30x14" tire car with a back seat cruising the street looking for some imports to stick it to at the stop light =)

I'll be happy when I get the money for the trans and motor swap, until then you have to set me out big time because my car is S L O W.

My buddy wants to put his 18* sbc motor in it and put a turbo on it, but I don't know if I am into the sharing a car thing.

One day I'll have my lil lsx block with a little thumper turbo on it and it runs what it runs

You'll still have to set me out though LOL.

Can't see the oil pan when you converted to FWD

How long is your torque arm, trans bracket or tunnel mount length?

I'd like to do a 90mm - 101mm turbo, I have also considered rear mounted turbo set ups I really like that setup, keep the weight over the rear, besides who cares about quick spooling.

One of my buddies friends gets left on in the 60ft, then he runs 190+ mph on the big end

He is also only running a 3.08 gear.
