Default Stock 02 Z06 and AFR heads=414 rwhp!

Yep that's right guys my stock 02 Z06-well okay stock accept for a underdrive pulley and GHL catback and Halltech Stinger just made 414RWHP and 396TQ. This through the manifolds and cats. FWIW with the exhaust and Vortex air box the car made 376 RWHP( different dyno) back on 01 tuned with a MAFT BUT when I ran my best of 11.65@118 the car dyno'd at 366. I was going to go with a HUGE cam and the AFR 205's milled .040 with a fast intake and 90mm TB-BUT after hearing the news about the new 06 Z06 I quickly changed my mind. Car drives like stock, passes emissions-its just like stock but with MORE. I think Patrick G has started a new trend-I may try the cheatr camshaft and see if it's worth anything more. I was so impressed with the results that I forgot to even get a graph printed-I'll see if they can fax it to me. Car peaked at 6200 rpm and torque peaked at 4800, the car was making over 350tq by 3700 from memory.

I'm convinced of this setup that I'm saving up for a set of these heads,02 cam advanced 4 degrees in my A4 GTO....I'm going to run manifolds and cats too and I believe I can make an easy 380RW with this setup and peak low like u did too.

Awesome setup bro....
Try the CheatR cam next.....

I have a cheaTR cam ordered and will also be running AFR 205 heads but i already have Longtubes, Catback, FAST 90/90. Id like to have a stout car that sounds like one with exhaust only. Oh, and with cats on and my magnaflow catback...it should sound very refined

Wow, that's some huge hp for stock exhaust. I wish the F-body's exhaust was as good as the Z-06's. Nice gains. These AFR heads rock!

I'm thinking of maybe getting the Z06 manifolds extrude honed and then maybe even a fast 90 and the new TR Cheatr cam. I actually enjoy driving my car alot more now-just start and drive and no more smelling rich-even the tips are clean! Thanks for doing this Patrick!

I'm thinking of getting a FAST 90/90 setup for my car. I've asked around about Extrude Honing the stock exhaust manifolds, but a lot of people have steered me away saying that it puts more of a shine on the inside, but doesn't remove enough material to make a difference.

Hinson Supercars (the Mazda RX7 LS1 conversion company 205-887-5161) sells CNC ported manifolds that they claim are worth 10 rwhp over stock manifolds. Since RX7s are a bitch to put long tubes in, they would most likely have more experience of the true gains of a ported cast iron manifold. I may have to check into it.

2 or 3 years ago, if you told somebody you could make over 400 rwhp with stock cam and exhaust, they would have called you a liar. Now, you've just broken the paradigm. Great job!

I'd love to see what the addition of headers to the cheaTR cam/afr heads setup will do...any thoughts on what kind of additional performance might be seen?

Headers on a Z06 are typicaly not worth too much-in the neighbourhood of 10 horse. I have my headers but I LOVE the clean sound of the manifolds-I may go back and do a few more pulls in a couple of weeks. The car was showing a consistent 2 degrees of knock-my car never knocked before. I think It was because of some of the gas that was left over from the winter. Also I'm going to switch to NGK TR6 IX plugs, currently I'm running TR6's gaped at .048. It knocke a consistent 2 degrees with 24 and 22 degrees. FWIW when I backed of timing to 22 the car lost 10 horse( 414 to 404). I'm real happy with the car-these AFR heads are a nice piece of work!

My car stopped gaining power above 26 degrees of timing, but lost power below that too, LOL. I've got TR6ix's in my motor. I'm envious of the killer Z06 manifolds. They're quite a bit better than the F-body stuff...even better than stock C5 manifolds. Hinson Supercars is going to CNC port me a set of 2002 F-body manifolds. On a stock LS1 they say they've seen a repeatable 10-12 rwhp. On my heads/cam car, they feel the ported manifolds might be worth even more!

Just think, I can add ported exhaust manifolds and a FAST 90/90, gain some noticeable power and give up NOTHING is driveability or stealth! Man I love these engines! Sleepers of the world unite!!

How lethal would both of these cars be with an LSX intake painted black, reworked exhaust manifolds, and a WELL hidden nitrous kit

It would mop up at the street races!! (and sound like a kitten with a quiet , full exhaust).

Hmmmmmmmm......

I'm going this route too,I'll be running Edlebrocks 203CC head along with cnc'd manifolds and a ptb...I'd love to see 380RW from my A4 GTO with a stock like idle

Headers 10rwhp? Get some LG Pros, they are more like 25-30rwhp on a Z06.

20-35, not a chance. That would mean you could have a bolton Z with just theaders and a cold air making 400 rwhp-hasn't been done yet. My testing has shown the TPIS to be worth 10 rwhp and the Kooks 15rwhp. The LG's maybe a tad more but not double-that's for sure. The whole goal is to make as much power without headers-the car is dead quiet at idle and cruise. I can't wait to go to the track and trap 122-123, pop the hood and make everyone wonder what makes the car click. At 370rwhp I was trapping 12.0@118 with a 2.0 sixty foot on the Eagle Super Car tires. I just swaped to Pilot Sports which seem to hook really good so I'm hoping to get 11.70's@122-123 this year on the radials.

Cheatr cam is going to be the next mod for sure. I was thinking of swaping to 1.85 rockers but it still won't give the extra duration of the cam. I'm waiting to here what Tony thinks I should do next. What do the manifolds on a GTO look like? Patrick G's results are really impressive when you look at the factory F-body manifolds.

Black painted FAST Intake... I bet a 90 mm version picks you up another 12-15 RWHP, especially a "cleaned up" version

What I like about the intake swap is the instant gratification factor (versus a two day cam install) and that it should do nothing but add top end power to your already potent combination (some show a SLIGHT loss very low in the curve but the gains in the middle of the curve and up top FAR outweigh that situation).

Do the cam AND the intake if your up for it.....THAT should be interesting

Tonys right, the LSX wouldnt be a bad mod either...90MM of course, bet u see another 12RW easy with a port matched LSX/90 combo...FWFW,I picked up over a .10 and 2MPH from the LSX/90 on my race car....

If the cam was worth 20RW over the LS6 cam you'd be around 445RW threw manifolds
