Default Trickflows + TR230 cam dyno

Ended up with 455hp / 399tq. I could have squeezed a few more out of it, but I ran out of time. Mods are in my sig and the heads were milled to 61cc and installed with HS roller rockers and stock head gaskets. Overall, I’m really impressed with the gains I picked up with these heads.
My last dyno was with ported stock heads (stage 2). Those heads flowed well at peak lift on the intake, but low on the exhaust side and at mid lifts. With those heads I made 423hp / 371tq.
With the Trickflow heads I gained 32hp and 28tq at peak, but I like the midrange gains even better! Here’s a graph of my old ported heads vs Trickflow:

wow, almost the same as what I got. I had a little more torque, but the numbers are really close, very nice!

solid gains for just a head swap and adding HS rockers. (just head swap right?) you could probably pick up some more power by running a tighter quench and some more tuning. congrats man.

As far as the power goes, nice man! I'd have ran some thinner gaskets for a little more compression(PtV would have been ok, but always good to clay) but still impressive! power under the curve is great man, I'll bet it runs like a raped ape with those 4.10's! I'd say without those gears you'd be around 465-470ish/410

I 2nd that man alil of DCR definitely would add up some RWTQ esp. at under curve level

Found this in one of his other posts

Ported stock heads
The heads are unmilled and spec'd out with 68cc combustion chambers and 244cc intake chambers. They have 2.02" int and 1.57"exh valves. They flowed 303cfm intake, 195cfm exhaust at .600.

aha. found it. great gains. is that mustang or dynojet?

did you happen to check piston/valve clearance? know someone thats thinking of goin with a cam that size but wonder if we can mill the heads and go with thinner gaskets too.

Very nice gains over you old heads. The added compression makes a big difference too. Glad to see more independant results of TFS heads.

Congrats on the new found power, looks like very good gains compared to heads that had already been ported.

The torque numbers do look low, could be a function of the reverse pattern camshaft.

Proper exhaust scavenging yeilds best power, slightly more than what is needed yeilds increased torque, so anything you can do to help the exhaust side should net you more torque.

I saw your post about dyno testing your other heads, looks like you have been BUSY. How long were the other heads on your car?

Thanks. It was on a dynojet (same one each time). And the weather conditions were pretty identical for each setup. I didn't check ptv. If I go with a different cam in the future (or a thinner gasket) I will check.

Hahaha! I was pretty busy last week! The old heads have been on for the past 9 months or so. I just never got around to dynoing them until recently.

I have pacesetter headers and a pacesetter offroad y pipe (for extra ground clearance) with a magnaflow catback and a cutout. I know the reverse split is more picky about exhaust flow. I'll probably run this cam for a while as I really do enjoy it, and then move on to something a little bigger with a traditional split (nothing wild though). Nearly 30ftlbs at peak and gains at every point on the curve over a set of already ported heads is what I like!

Thanks. I was very happy with the results. Keep in mind that I was the one doing the tuning and I'm usually pretty conservative. The last few pulls I was gaining 3hp / 3tq each time as I crept up on the best afr and timing. It may have hit 460 / 400+ if I had kept at it for another 3-4 pulls or so.
