One of my friends at my job has an automatic '04 GTO, only mod is a catback exhaust. I don't have any delusions of beating him from a dig, but what would be a good speed to give me some sort of advantage from a roll? I've heard 45mph is a decent "deadspot" for A4s? Once I get a new clutch I'll go from a dig just for the hell of it, but I don't think my 80k+ mile clutch will take more than one or two 7,000rpm launches right now

From a roll i don't think it will really matter what you go from. Even if you get him in his dead spot he should come around you up top. But a 45 will help you out. Good luck!

Yeah go from around 45-50. I don't really think it is going to matter much, especially if you have nothing done to your honda. The s2000 is a nice car, but that gto has about 120hp and like 200tq on you from the word go. That's just going by what I have read on ratings. Have fun with it, and good luck.

Well S2000s put down ~200rwhp stock, so I have a ~120hp disadvantage... but I also have an ~800lb weight advantage. And a 4.10 vs. 3.23 gearing advantage. I know he's eventually gonna come around me, but we're talking about a car that traps 99-100mph in the 1/4 vs. a car that traps 100-102mph in the 1/4. So if I can catch him where it won't downshift to first, but is a bit low in second, I think I can make it interesting. Today I'm gonna see where a 45 roll would put me in 2nd gear.

Sorry Irun...I like ya and all, but I don't give advice to help out S2k owners. Except, to be certain the rainbow sticker in the back fills both bottom corners. Gotta make that bad boy HUGE and noticable.

my mother has an 05 s2k. and I have a 06 GTO and a 01 SS camaro. I have run all three cars

S2k vs SS A4= SS destroying S2K
S2k vs GTO M6 = same as above.

Sure it was a 05 S2k which is a few pounds heavier than the 03s. But still no way man unless you have some serious mods, And even then it would only be until 100mph or so and then you would still lose.

Now stop worrying about V8s and go hunt down some Srt4s and 3000GTs

Well an A4 LS1 F-body is gonna be noticeably quicker than an A4 LS1 GTO, and an M6 LS2 GTO is gonna be as well. I think this race is gonna be a little closer than you guys think. We're talking about a ~13.8 @ 104mph car vs. a ~14.0 @ 100mph car. Like I said, the GTO should win, but I don't think it will be a slaughter by any means. Especially if I can run him from his weak spot.

ya i thinks its going to be alot on the reaction time of the hit. how fast you plan on going to? ive only drove one s2000 pulled good till around 110 or so but it was a older model s2000. good luck let us know i dont think either car will pull eachother to much

hey irun I am not trying to put the s2k down, I kinda wanted an rx-8 and they around the same hp and tq but a quarter mile he wins, get at about 45 and make him run the hell out of his goat

Probably go to the top of 4th gear, so 120-125mph or so. And I'm banking on the fact that he's pretty inexperienced, so I highly doubt he's actually going to have it in 2nd gear. So I'm going to honk it off so I'll have that advantage and he's gonna have to wait for his car to downshift.

man idk cuz them ls1 goats seem slow as **** to me i raced and o3 s2k and an 04 goat ...i beat them both but them 2 would be a good race ...if the s2k driver is good and clutch is solid

i think youre gonna get your *** handed to you. s2k are fast for little 4 cylinder imports but the gto will eat it up all day, roll or dig

A 14s flat car getting it's "*** handed" to it by a high 13s car? Like I said, I'm sure he'll end up coming around me, but I doubt it will be too bad. We'll see how my clutch likes it. And I'll try to get it on video.

Not exactly sure what "14's flat" means but ive seem auto gto's run mid 13's no problem...so yea i would say hell probably hand you your *** at any speed. What kinda of answer did you expect to get posting here...try the honda board im sure you'll get much different answers there

I know that the 04 a4 gto isn't the fastest ls1, but it should be able to outperform a honda s2000 from any speed any temperature any time of day. The s2k may have it on a road course, but the goat is the straight line acceleration champion of those two. Just do it and let us know what happens.

First, I'm going to run from his weak spot and refuse the roll he wants, then I'm going to honk it off so I can get the jump, then I'm going to shut down before he comes around me. Then, I'll make excuses for why I can't run him from his strong spot.. like my clutch is going out.
