Default Updated Race: bolt-on ls1 vs. 01 cobra

UPDATED : Just wanted to let you guys know for anybody who remembers this thread we finally got the chance to run them twice. 1) 25-90 he pulled half a car and 2) from 50-120ish he beat me by a car. So I got the results I expected but I have to admit he was spinning pretty bad during the 30mph race.








So one of my good friends is claiming he will kill me so I want others opinions.

2001 Cobra M5- CAI, LT's+ X pipe dumped, Built SRA w/ 4.30's, DR's.

vs.

1999 Trans Am A4- Lid, Ls6 intake, LT's, Y, Magnaflow Catback, 3.23's, DR's.


I ran time in sig w/ street tires, but know I can pull off a better number. He doesn't think I even have a chance.... I think it should be very close he may pull me a little. Also I may be adding a circle-d 4c stall. If that happens I'm sure he will be surprised.

+4 He's easily a high 12 car if he can drive...with just DR's and the 4.30s. But with a 4k stall......you should be out on top.

o jeeze....

you forgot the u/d pullies, ported intake, and tune.......AND there is this red switch, i dont know but they say when you flick it you get a 150 shothope you can launch at 7k.....

and yes i powershift

ill kill you with spray...never said it motor to motor dousch nutz

im getting a tune shortly here looking for ~330rwhp all motor and on spray 430ish to the wheels with 520-550tq


have been to the track 2x but was on street tires = terrible with IRS. but my best time was a 13.3 at 106.5 with a 2.09 60'...(that was no LT's or CAI) and alot has changed since then..

im gonna try and break into the 11's on motor and high 10's with spray but time will tell...and yes i have weight reduction

Very healthy snake you got there. I'd run him all motor. It would make things quite interesting.

Not with 4.30's and DR's I don't think he can. 12.2's yes. His trap would be around 112ish but he's gonna have to launch the fawk out of it and DR's it won't hold at the rpm he needs to come out at. He needs more gear and a stickier tire for 11's. Trust me I know.

I'm thinking I'm going to be needed that stall, unless I flick a little red switch.

my friend with a 97 cobra and extreme lightening of the car DR and 430 gears went into the 11's with a cold air intake and a catback...its definitely possible....he has the extreme driver mod and luck of every vehicle he buys is a factory freak but still, definitely possible.

Well my outdated numbers are better than his so thats what im going by... Im out of the 13's so I can talk all the smack I want. I dont see that car getting into the 11's on motor sorry...unless its gutted down to just a milk crate and a steering wheel.

Never happened. There is something he's leaving out or maybe you meant 12's? I know these cars (96-98 cobras) like the back of my hand. 11's with just DR', 4.30's CAI, catback and weight reduction no way. The car would have to weigh damn near 2700lbs with driver.

Granted the 99/01s are diff. than machs in the tq area, but pending his WR and driving, it is 'possible'. I agree that he'll need an IRS brace to ahve a chance but again, my only point is it's possible. Gotta have a goal in order ot reach it right?

THe cobra in Q here has more HP at the wheels than two of the guys listed....pending putting down ~325. But, he'll have a good 20RWTQ disadvantage too.

EDIT: here's the list from SVTP. One N/A in the 11s and has a SRA. Others are bottom 12s.
