Default C5 vs 2011 Mustang GT

I'm hearing alot of buzz about the new Stang. How do you guys think a C5 Coupe will fair against the new Stang?

Not well.

Supposedly the 2011 GT is running low 12 sec quarter miles. I don't know how much I believe that, but a bone stock C5 coupe will run mid to low 13s.

I heard 12.8 for the 5.0's, which seems about right. Low 12's don't seem to realistic though.

They will fair about the same as a stock fbody..

Low 12s.... Mid-high with mid being generous.

It will be interesting to see how they fare against the new Camaros. Personally, I want an L99 A6 one (wouldn't be stock for more than break-in miles lol)

It will be a drivers race with the advantage going to the mustang.

Once the modding begins the LsX platform will start to pull ahead.

Still too much hype and buzz...don't know what source is accurate.

given the power to weight ratio it's a drivers race...with higher speed aerodynamics favor C5.

GT C5
412 350
3700 3200
8.980582524 9.142857143

An A4 with the 2.73 would REALLY struggle. C5Z would beat it no problem.

Are you serious? The 2011 GT WILL walk all over a C5... Have you ever seen a C5 and a 2010 camaro run?
C5 is a drivers race for an fbody... Usually the dig races go in favor of the fbody because of IRS. From a roll it is a toss up with the advantage going to the C5.

It will not walk a C5Z.

Damn man... Thanks for letting me know though..

I don't believe I mentioned anything about a C5Zo6.. I am 100% sure I said C5. I believe that is what this thread is about, why bring up a C5Z?

a properly driven c5 till pull a similar fbody from a roll by like two cars, nvm what the guy a few post above says....fact is far more c5s have hit 110mph stock than fbodys usually about a 2mph difference....id say drivers race with new stang with slight edge to the GT...FRC with the best chance....

Would you like to tell the C5 owners that I have pulled that?

Should they win on paper? Hell yes, everytime. Do they usually when it comes down to it... All depends on the two cars.

Never mind anything you say.
:eye:

I say the new GT walks all over a C5.. A 5th gen would pull on a C5 no problem, and a GT is going to pull on a camaro. Is it that hard to comprehend? That does not equal a drivers race by ANY means. Mark my words.

A C5Z is part of the 5th generation of the Corvette...isn't it?

Here you can see it in action against the new camaro ss and challenger srt8. Scroll down about half the page and there is a video of the whole challenge. The mustang gets down pretty good. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html

That is like asking if a bolt on ls1 could take a stock mach 1 and someone saying no... Then ask, why couldn't I? And they say you can't beat a cobra, and they have the same body.

If someone says c5, that is a base model corvette. If someone says C5Z or C5Zo6, that is not the base model.

Default Bolt ons

Let me change directions a little. I am referring to a base coupe Vette, now lets add full bolt ons and possibly a 2800 to 3200 stall?

Getting a little bit out of hand now..

The vette "shouldn't" have a problem with those mods. If it has tires, from a dig it would be ugly for the GT. From a roll it should "hang" but still get pulled decently.
