Thumbs up s2000 vs. lt1

Ok so my buddy just got an 04' s2000, it's pretty much stock other than an after market catback, and lighter rims thats pretty much the extent of my knowledge about his car.

i have a 94' z28 a4 with 3.23's and 45k miles
mods: lt's and ory with 3 inch all the way(no cats), c5 z06 rims with stock size eagle f1's, no backseats, spare tire, or jack. i also have a power tune (inc. harder and better shift points). idk if this will be done by tht time but i also plan on settig up an lt1 style lid with slp ram air.

Having said all that, how do you think this race will turn out, from a dig or possibly a roll?

Drivers race? Only if the OP is sleeping when they take off... LT1 will win handily.

Every LT1 Ive seen run is slow, Ive also seen quite a few S2ks run and they are about as slow. I would actually give the edge to the S2k if he could drive, but OP says he just got the car, so its defiantly a drivers race.

So what you're saying is that an LT1 can't be fast? lol. J/k. You must see a lot of stock or near stock LT1's.

Where did I say LT1s cant be fast? Most of the LT1 cars Ive seen run are near stock, just like the OPs. I havent seen many 13 second LT1 cars, and Ive seen about the same amount of S2Ks run 13s.

Yeah stock vs. stock (no matter what some people try and say) S2000s, SRT-4s, early 350Zs, 99-04 Mustang GTs, and LT1 F-bodies are all EXTREMELY close together in straightline performance.

personally i think its going to be very close, but when my buddy had his 240sx he always tended to ride the clutch and miss shifts under pressure and this s2k is a manual as well so i think tht i will definately have the advantage from a dig, especially considering the fact tht an lt1 has a massive torque advantage and makes power a hell of a lot sooner.

Man this is the honest truth , I have owned an a-4 and a 6speed manual. He will have a big advantage on a roll, but from a dog he will see your tail lights. I raced one in my six speed and from a roll i got him but barely. My a-4 ran a 13.5 in the 1/4 at 102 where my m-6 only went a 13.7.but from a roll my m-6 would walk away from my a-4.Both where stock believe it or not.Btw both where 93 speed density....

If I could take an S2000 in my dinky little MR2 (which my T/A would rape) I'm sure you can too.

I agree with this except for the srt4.

Off a roll it would eat all of those cars alive.

But since its an AP2 s2k im going to say he will have a slight edge if he knows how to drive.

I would say from a Dig you will definitely win but from a roll it would be closer as most of those hondas are alot better top end, also going from a roll will allow him to start in VTEC, opposed if you started from a dig he would have to get to his powerband since they have NO lowend power. I know everyone jokes about VTEC but it really does help. I had a prelude for a DD and from idle to 4k it was dead but after that it had decent pickup. Nothing like a LS1 but still decent

LT1's run 13's stock. I think you'll be happy with the outcome.

I outran an 01 s2000, from a 55-60 to 120 I pulled maybe a car in my bone stock 165k mile 93 TA.

Then that same night I ran an 06 s2000 and actually pulled a car and 1/2 to 2 cars on it from same roll.

Thats like saying LS1s run 12s stock. Sure some have but the vast majority dont. I think most here will be surprised by how close this race will really be.
