Well i dont know about HP gains but i went w/ a Mac Off Road Y-pipe w/ manifolds still and on A 98 Z-28 i went 3 tenths faster in the 1/4 so i would say it is worth taking them off !!!!!!

An off road y pipe means no cats. I took mine off. I just did it for the sound tho. Got my off road y pipe and headers from texas speed.

There are threads with people whom have dynoed before (catted y) and after (ory). They have seen 3-5hp increase with an ory. Is it worth it?

We typically see about a 5rwhp gain by eliminating your cats.

I would agree with this. If you will not be making any other changes (yeah right!) then it's fine but if there a possiblilty of doing LTs later, if would be just as well to wait.

anytime you are gaining flow (eliminating cats) you will increase power. i agree with the LTs as well.

It sounds like there may have been something wrong besides just the fact that you "had cats". 5 hp != 3 tenths

I'm stuck between cats or no cats and 3.73s or 4.10s? I am now leaning towards 3.73s and no cats. My first post on your forum!

From the numerous dyno threads I've seen on this site over the years, like stated above, 5rwhp seems to be the norm.

About what is the horsepower difference between your catted y-pipe and a offroad y-pipe?

I would say you could gain about 15 to the wheels with that and a catback.

That's what I believe they are saying the 5rwhp comes from. High flow catted y-pipe vs ORY.
