Default My bolt on TA vs. New 5.0, who takes it?

One of my friends called me up yesterday and said he just bought a new 2011 5.0 Mustang. He wants to line them up on Friday and see what happens.

Him:
It's an auto and at the very least he'll a set of tires. He might have time to install a CAI and a tune, but I'm not sure.

Me:
1999 A4 Trans Am with exhaust, intake, TB, ram air, UD pulley, SS4000 and tune. Also have about 100-150 lbs of weight reduction.

We only have 1/8th mile tracks here and before the stall with an intake leak I was running 8.5s around 84 mph. I got the intake leak sealed up it felt like it gained a decent amount. And now that I have a stall it feels A LOT faster. Think I can take him?

It'll be close for sure. I've been wondering the same thing myself since the best 1/4 mile times i've heard coming from stock 5.0's is 12.5 at 110 exactly my personal best to date. its been a while but i think that was 86 mph ish at the 1/8th mi. And I also just heard a co worker picked on up about a month ago, Maroon with black stripes so I'm thinkin we'd be a close match on speed and color haha, unfortunatly he's on a different job site so i haven't gotten to call him out yet lol, but very interested in how this race goes, subscribed...

I'm hoping to get a sub 8 sec pass, but it'll all depend on how much traction I can get. My previous best 60' was a 1.9

It also feels like it's gained at least a few MPH. I'm looking forward to it, I'll rip him off the line but it's just a matter of holding him off to the finish. We're pretty close in mods, if you get a hold of that guy let me know how it goes.

You 4k stall vs his almost stock?! I would think you would destroy him on a drag strip no? That 4k stall should get you at least 1.6s.

That 1.9 was before the stall with 0 wheel spin. I datalogged that run and had a lean spike at launch that was hurting me, it came from an intake leak that I've since fixed. I haven't taken it to the track since I put the stall in or fixed the leak.

I have 315 Nitto 555Rs that hook ok on the street so I think they'll do well at the track. I'm still getting use to launching it though.

ok good then. I hope you hook I think you will take him.
I did 2 11.9 passes last time and on another pass I spun just a little and did a 12.4. So just to give an idea of how much time suffers from a little wheel spin. GL and let us know how you make out!

you have a capable setup. the question is: can you make it run?

best i could do with my stalled auto 1st time out was 12.80s. the car had much more in it, which i later found, but not after much practice.

if he is stock you should be able to get him. if he installs cai, tune, DRs...will be a good one with him chasing you down.

Thanks to the cold front that came through we've had a mix of rain and sleet all day today. Bullspit.

Hoping for dry weather next week.
