My car is completly bone stock air lid and everything, my friend put an extremely aggresive tune on the car via hp tuner...it still has the 273 gears but it pulls like a demon on the road its an auto with a shiftkit. He was talking me into just changing the rearend housing to a 323 gear set up it already blows the tires off from a stand still I was jus curious with the awesome tune he put in it would it still be capable of hitting the high 7s ?

When my Chevelle was 3900# with a super mild ~300 crank horsepower SBC 350 with a stock stall and 3.08 gears it would run 9.2s all day right off the road from driving to the track.
If a 3700# 345hp ls1 car can't do 8s in the 1/8th, you should push it off a cliff.

1998 trans am 100% full weight 3.23 optioned rear.. Lm muffler and a lid, absolutely 100% stock otherwise.. 8.4@84.
Unless you can't drive your manual or you are a ridiculously high da... If it takes you a converter to get in the 8s, something is very wrong. A bone stock auto should run 8.4-8.7s all day depending on options and make.
