Default Which setup should be faster

Hey everyone have a 2000 c5 and debating on which route to go? Already have a yank ss3600, tires and full bolt ons. I am either going to get a decent sized cam, and spray 100 shot or procharge it on about 8 psi/500hp. Which set up would be faster in the 1/8th mile on average?

I keep reading how people say the supercharger route is more for highway pulls but I am not sure. I dont want to be disappointed with which I chose and all I race is the 1/8th mile

So 100 shot with a aftermarket cam vs 8 psi with stock cam?

yes exactly-stock heads with the aftermarket cam or 243s at most. No highway racing all 1/8th mile racing at the track

I guarantee you a good cam with a 100 shot will be quicker than 8 psI on the stock cam

Btr stage 4 is a bit big but still a great choice. What gear do you have?

stock 3.15s right now unforunately. I spoke to someone at Brian Tooleys and a local builder and they said it would work fine with the yank and that cam but I am weary

I figure since I wont be launching at low rpms the gears shouldn't hurt me too bad on the track. Drive-ability doesn't matter to me as I never drive it lol

My only worry is that it might be a bit lazy down low with that gear. If you don't care about drivability so much and want mainly just top end power at the expense of low and midrange, then this would be a solid choice

Thank you I know I may regret it for putting around town or taking it for a cruise but I will deal with it if it means 1/10th faster at the track

Well it may not be faster at the track just so you know. You'll never really know of course. All you can do of course is compare similar setups to others with a smaller cam

good point. I wish gears were as easy to change over as a fbody though, then I wouldnt have to worry about it

Btr stage 3 for the spray in a vette, the stage 4 isn't really needed.

The only difference between the two is the intake valve opening point, resulting in the extra overlap for the stage 4.

Are there any cams you would recommend for the setup? the 3.15 gears yank ss 3600 and only for the track?

Honestly I'm thinking something more along the lines of a Tick SNS stage 2 or something similar. If you were doing gears and/or heads I'd be looking more towards the BTR 4, but in your case you're not going that route. I'd ask a few more cam experts like Martin at Tick and see what they think
