Default Turbonetics TC78 or Precision 78GTS or other options?

I am trying to decide on a turbo for a street oriented 383 setup. Space is definitely an issue on this one, otherwise I would just use a PT88. Looking for 700-800rwhp. Max downpipe size I can fit will be 3.5"

Just wondering how close the TC78 will be to the Precision 78. Any ideas guys?

It will fall behind the Precision unit as far as hp is concerned for sure but the TC78 with a bigger exhaust housing could make 700whp with out too much trouble even with the 3.5" down pipe. that would be on a auto I am sure 800 would be easy to achieve on a manual.

Thanks. It will be a 6speed car. How big of a housing can you get for the TC78?

You can get the hp78 wheel in the standard housing or the GTM (race housing). TC is the small 60- style. Exhaust housings go up to 1.52.

Correct, we get them in twin scroll 1.52A/R. The GTM race cover makes a nice difference as well.

Well depends on what's more important to you. The TC78 and the 78GTS will make 700+rwhp with the tranny you have. So if you want quicker spool then the TC78, if you want most power then the 78GTS. Its a tradeoff...... we carry both either way and both have been great to us.

Spool times are only effected by maybe 100-200rpms that is all. HP increase varies depending on the setup.....but ~100 hp.
