Stock Bottom & Boost - Reliability List

Stock L76 short block, LS9 gaskets, head studs, cam/springs, pump gas and meth. Been beating the **** out of it for 15 months between 16-18psi. 4800lbs, went 133mph in the 1/4 on the street a couple week ago from hp tuners scan data. Good for 136-137 at the track with some tires and a ballsy driver.
How's it all holding 22# now?
Best of 9.04 @ 151 at 24psi. 15* of timing on E85.
Going by weight/trap speed that's 812 whp. 900+ at the crank?
Haven't pulled it apart yet but I did find ringland chunks in the exhaust manifold. 2 times on the dyno with like 16 runs and around 3000 street miles
It made 782rwhp and 674tq at 14psi and run a best time or 9.05@151

a.i.s. water meth at 80% meth the rest -20washerfluid.timing 14* by 7lbs and at 8lbs meth turns on and adds back in another 3* for total of 17* atax boost.im gna lower that timing to only advance another 1* for 15* total this spring.
Motor has two hard seasons on it in the boat, msd 6012 shows 46hrs on it of hard runtime.it cruises the lake at 3800
ran 108 in 900ft and current impellor shows i was making 850-900hp at the crank.its a direct drive to my jetpump.boost was 20lbs at 6900rpms at the 900hp absorption chart for pellor. looking to do 7200-7300 on 20lbs or less and stay on pumpgas 93 and watermeth injection.sold the single turbo setup and built a twin long ss tube headers. with twin .81ar 70mm on3 turbs with twin 60mm gates.the single deal choked at 6900, i dont think this twin deal will choked until 7500+ so we re good now to run modified eliminator class next spring , 1/4 in 10.0 on water.we ll do 8.0 1000ft racing as well.
only failure so far was a number 2 piston when meth tank ran dry during a pass which was my fault
i beat this stock bottom end like it owes me money

My black truck sees 22psi on the regular and has been at 20psi for about 7 months, beating on it every weekend. Its the one that made 950 on 17psi. Better weather and more boost, its probably cracked 4 digits at the tires by now on a few occasions. Its pushing through my converter a bit though...eating up some mph. 15lbs made 807 on e85 corrected at 5500'. A little over 700rwhp uncorrected.
Been on boost since 75,000 miles Od is around 85,000 miles.
Car has been 9.69 at 1.41 on 14lbs. Doesn't look like this list gets updated anymore.

The key to a stock short block surviving, is watch the air fuel ratio, and watching detonation. Buick Grand nationals have hyper-eutectic pistons as well, I was running 25 pounds of boost, with meth. Lots of the Buick guys where, but if you detonate, even just once, it was smoked. It comes down to tune, and watching your air fuel.
I suggest people getting a wide-band, to watch the air fuel at the higher rpm levels. On my stock blown pro charged collectors edition, I watched it like a hawk. I never exceeded 11.5.. See on the Buick's you can adjust fuel pressure to control your air fuel. I would suggest to get an adjustable set up, if you run more than 500 rwhp... I know stock short blocks can handle up to 18 pounds, when you creep up on it, and if you have the right set up. This on a turbo set up, though.. I also suggest, people put on 317 heads, if they run more than 10 pounds of boost. The compression really creates the heat, and increases the chances for detonation. Detonation is the killer to these brittle pistons... It is like taking a hammer, and hitting these brittle pistons at full force with your hand... NOT GOOD....
Tune is the most important.. I personally would not run more than 8 pounds on a stock motor without changing the heads, for pro charge set ups... However, you can shoot a cooling 100 shot after the blower, before the intercooler; if you want more power. I seen lots of guys, run deep tens, with 7 -8 pounds of boost, with a 100 shot...
If the tune is right, there is no reason you cant get many years of enjoyment out of these stock motors... The buick guys are the masters of making stock hyper-eutectic pistons survive at extremely high boost levels. But the compression is 8.5 on those motors... This is why, to invest in a good set of 317, may be a good idea, if you want to run more than 8 pounds of boost...
