maybe its just me but wont the passenger side pipe get squashed when the car comes down just after the launch? just inboard of the strut, it looks like maybe a k member bolt? right on top of the DP, when the lower A arm comes up it may pinch it

I was curious as to why you didn't cut the inner fender out completely and just halo the coilover support? Is that too much of a PITA or is there just no extra useable space there anyway.

there's a fair amount of room there...I have the pipes lifted as far as possible...GM didn't design that space for a 4" pipe to run thru

I may notch the pipes a touch in that area to buy a little more room. Luckily its near the pivot point so it doesn't move "that much"

the shock tower (especially with the strut bar) adds structure to the front frame...probably would take just as much weight to do what you are thinking and it would be rather difficult to make sufficiently strong...

i was thinking of doing something similar when i redo my turbo kit.
i didnt think i could fit a 4" pipe through there, but if you can, wow, might try that.
can you turn your wheels, lock to lock and not hit the pipe?
keep us posted when you get it running and let us know if your suspension hits the pipe when it loads/unloads.

any more pictures showing the clearance to the suspension

you can not go lock-to-lock with my madman rack (not sure if its the same as stock). I don't need to be able to go that far anyway...spool + radials don' like super hard turns

I need to adjust the ride height and see what clearance I have left over. I haven't been able to fully test it yet since I have some old tabs from a previous travel limiter in that area....Once I cut them off I'll use some straps and try to get the car to full compression to see where I'm at. I may build a bump stop for the upper control arm just in case. If the car aims for the sky though...all bets are off

You can always oval the pipe in that area for some extra clearance. I did that on my downpipes.

Thats a good idea and maybe the way I go, not for weight, just room.

Looking good FireBall!

luckily dual 4s provide about 28% more x-sectional area than a single 5 so some bangs and dents will not hurt overall flow. this will still be miles better than the single 4" that I ran last year

I do hope thats a joke, my single 60 series 76mm has a 3.5 inch DP, you were really pushing 1700whp through a 4' DP?

I had packaging issues on the last build...yes I had a 5" transitioned to a single 4". Probably would explain why the car wouldn't make anymore than 33psi boost, even with 60psi of CO2 on the WG

it was ~1700fwhp

i dunno what to say to that. i guess its really amazing what you can do with a single 4', makes me laugh about all the guys running dual 3' on all motor builds. I cant believe you even tried it much less made that much power and boost. now with bigger motor, turbo, and exhaust.........oh boy.
