its the burkhart hvac delete plate. Its pretty thin...maybe .063

I need to grab my calipers to measure. I may pick up some .125 6061 plate and rebuild it.

haha...running out of space quickly...this poor 3 gallon summit fuel cell has been hacked up beyond recognition This time I had toadd a notch to allow it to clear the removable frontend bar while being far enough in front of the radiator to accomodate a -12 90deg AN fitting for the fuel feed line. Still need to get some more .090 aluminum plate to close off the notch

Was originally going to cut off the whole front section, but didn't want to sacrifice that much tank volume, so I put the bottom section back on just leaving the notch

That's now the fireball version of the 3 gallon summit tank

Capacity: way less then 3 gallons

Looks good though. Coming along nicely.

Starting to come together, how much fuel will that tank hold? We only need 2 gallons at the most.

good call...

I'll also probably use 5052 for my new firewall blockoff plate (1/8" vs the .063 I have now)

Shawn, where did you get the last batch of aluminum you used for your fuel cell?

My pieces of aluminum should be here today...I'll be rebuilding the HVAC delete plate with 1/8" to replace the ocean wave plate Once I get the firewall plate done I can get going on the cold side plumbing (on the interior side...need the final motor and turbo to do the engine bay side)

really hope to get the heavy fab work complete in the next 2 months or so...I want the car in paint by end of August...

More and more done. Great job. Who made the inter-cooler? I wish I would have V-banded my inter-cooler.

The build is coming out very nice. I really appreciate how you, Phil and others are willing to post pics of your build and reasons behind your actions, it makes it easy for me to steal a few ideas for my own build

looking forward to seeing this thing get back to the track

Just a quick update:

didn't get alot done in the last few weeks, but...

Got the 1/8 plate and that fugger warped too. the way I was trying to make the hvac plate just isn't going to work (holesawing a 4" hole, passing a 4" aluminum pipe thru and welding both sides). it tends to pull the plate in funny ways when welding. I've tested some other ways with scrap and it seems that cutting a 3.5" hole, butt-welding a 4" pipe to both sides then cutting down the lip provides a warp-free setup, so I'm going to try for a third time doing that

Since the wing is done, I removed that from the car, going to get the parts coated. Will be getting the little pontiac bumper supports done in black chrome...should look cool

With the wing out of the way, I added a little more reinforcement to the the dual chute mount...also added some supports for the chute cables. just need to finish weld eveything then get that coated.

Is it possible to make the HVAC plate out of steel instead of aluminum?
