Been a while since any updates...
I got the rear t-top area tinned over the weekend...that was a royal PITA since I ran two bars back to the frame rails for support (had to go around those bars. I also removed the spare tire well and the little well on the drivers side of the car too. Got it all seamsealed and primed...didn't get a chance to snap a pic of it yet
Also, a few weeks ago I dropped off my pontiac emblem wing strut supports (that go on the bumper) to a local shop that is doing a brand new spray "chrome" process (its actually silver-based). They got the chrome part done. The next step is to leave the border and the tabs chrome and do the rest of it in a translucent red. Should look "close" to an actual pontiac emblem when finished![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)
here is one of them after the "chrome" step
![](http://home.comcast.net/~tfranklin5580/wing_strut_support.jpg)
they should look similar to this when done

I need to verify availability, but I plan on taking the car for cage certification wednesday night.

Also snapped a few pics of the rear hatch area....that sh%t was a PITA to work with![Bang Head](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_banghead.gif)
The holes are to mount the water tank and the battery box.

Oh...I hope we made the right call...but decided to go with the RHS block on this build...by the time we added up all the parts needed for the LS2 block transformation + the 40+ hours of Shawn's labor to make it happen...it seemed like a no-brainer to go with the RHS. Since I'm short stroke, we're going with the std deck
what we really liked are the quality of the block, the beefiness of the mains, the strength of the liners (shawn hasn't seen liners this strong/hard before). Also liked the raised cam since it allows us to run a much shorter pushrod
General specs:
4.125 bore
3.622 Callies Magnum XL crank
6.125 GRP Pro aluminum Rods
Custom JE pistons
Custom Va Speed solid roller turbo cam
ETP 265cc heads (6-bolt)
Titantium intake valves
Inconel Exhaust valves
Jesel Rockers
should be a bad little bi%ch at 40++ psi boost

Nice work Brian, great to see it certify I'm sure.
Good to hear on the motor too, that should be a SOLID piece. I have heard from 3 people now that the liners in the RHS block are really hard material.. I'm not sure what they did or what they used... but they certainly aren't the std liner that the machinists are used to.
I'm considering taking this route.. I have the solid roller 408 sitting here, but the bottom end was built for n/a use, and I don't think I'm gonna be comfortable spraying this thing with any real power.
Probably gonna end up building another shortblock, see if I can get the 4 inch bore ls7 heads converted to 6 bolt, and reuse the solid roller parts, probably do a more nitrous orientated camshaft while I'm at it.
Might have to talk to Shawn about that once the car's finished, I'm very interested to see how it holds up for your application, if you have good luck with it, I'm sure it will work for the 1/2 speed setup I want to complete.

How old are they Brian? I'm running 35 gun drilled that were bought in early 2007 and just checked them....they look fine. I "heard" some of the Moser QC went downhill 2008-2009.

Ordered a new set of strange axles from MADMAN...they harden much deeper and don't do it until after the axles are complete.
I've been pretty hard on them...180 mph at 3500 lbs is hard on parts

Starting on my next project...in an effort to shave some weight, I'm cutting off the spring perches (which I don't use since I'm coilover) and the Moser LCA brackets. I need a pretty serious drop in the back (since the car is pretty low). Moser brackets + relocation brackets just don't go far enough...I had to add a relocation-relocation bracket last year to get my geometry right...all those brackets overlapping add up in weight ![The Jester](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)
Started with a generic trailing arm bracket from A&A manufacturing...cut it apart and had to extend it down to add another hole where I needed it. welded on two clipped washers as reinforcement in that area...just need to get some plate and weld it back together![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)

^ I think after seeing your guy's issues with the Mosers I'll go Strange from the start. I have Phil's old S95. It'll make it on my 93 eventually. I've only been gathering parts randomly for it so far. I've been basing all of my effort around getting my Formula running. After that...

nothing like a day of heavy grinding, cutting, and sanding. Super hardcore weight reduction ![The Jester](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)
Probably 9-10 lbs when all is said and done. Best part is that its all unsprung weight![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)
Cut off the moser spring perches, and the LCA bracket assemblies. took quite a bit of time but its all good
The LCA brackets I cut off came in at 6.3lbs each
My new ones are ~3.6lbs each. Spring perches together weighed 2.6lbs. This is only weighing the big pieces left over after plasma cutting. I probably ground/sanded off another 1/4 to 1/2 lb of metal ![The Jester](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)
Also ordered my new axles with pocket milled axle flanges. Probably will shed 1lb or so per axle I'm guessing
!Passenger side spring perch (there was a thick spacer to level the spring perch with the tube...just cut that all the way off of the panhard bracket and simply plated over the hole with 1/8 plate...
