got a little bit done this morning...
disassembled the 3rd member and cleaned everything in my parts washer. Then I reassembled everything with 3.40 PRO gears (had 3.70 PRO gears in before). That 3rd member holding fixture is something I bought a few years ago and its really PIMP for this stuff![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)
for the record...ARP bolts suck for 9" fords...they made the shoulder too long for the spool and it wouldn't seat the ring gear all the way before bottoming out on the shoulder...had to resort to grade 8 bolts
![Bang Head](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_banghead.gif)
and thats not blood in the 3rd picture...thats redline shockproof gear oil![The Jester](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)

got the hood mounted...still need to tweak some of the dzus brackets some but its pretty close.
I cheated and did 8 90* angle brackets that are riveted to the fenders. they are visible with the hood on, but they will be painted body color so they shouldn't be "that" bad...did make for easy panel alignment using them though...just push the fender tight against the hood and turn the dzus...
headlight covers are just sitting on the car so they aren't by any means aligned...
still have 8 more to put on...one on each "extended cowl" area, two on the raised cowl to keep the hood off the windshield (need to build some supports) and four along the front...

We mounted my hood the same way with those little 90 degree brackets, but I would recommend putting a nut and bolt through them to the fender instead of a rivet, the rivets didn't seem very sturdy, so I changed them to the nut and bolt, just used little allen head bolts.

got back on the removable front end project again...
Built a support structure for each headlight cover. This will ultimately get tied into the crossbar that holds the front bumper...

![](http://home.comcast.net/~tfranklin5580/front_end_7.jpg)
Also built an upper support for the top of the bumper. Just tacked right now...needs to be final welded

worked some more today....
formed a 1/2 moly tube around the bottom of the bumper...used the front four threaded tabs as mount points for moly tabs I welded on the tube. in the center, I used three dzus fasteners to shore it up
![](http://home.comcast.net/~tfranklin5580/front_end_12.jpg)
Started on a pull point to tow the car...put it behind the front license plate...I mounted the bottom of the plate on an aluminum piano hinge and used two dzus fasteners up top to secure it
