Get the tune where it needs to be first, if it doesnt work good there try a smaller exhaust a/r or loosening the converter a tad. Things like wrapping the hotside, turbo blankets, and getting some heat in the turbo on a burnout can help alittle also.
Agreed^^^That makes the best sense, and i think i will be making sure my tune and everything is spot on before i spend the coin on a valve for my hotside. Exhaust is wrapped, turbo has a blanket.

Three step? please explain man. Heard but never played with.

Awesome.

Was that the rev limiter that studdered 5 times? Sounds like your converter is not holding.

Sounded like the rev limiter to me... due to tires not holding.

Yes it was the limiter, spin immediately, then it bounced again in the top end due to converter slip.

I was going to do a update just as soon as i had the motor out. Got a new transmission, so mine will be for sale soon. Going with a different converter from Lenny @ Ultimate Converter Concepts. And the fuel system is going to be upgraded to handle anything i can throw at it along with a nasty nate fuel cell. O yea, also painting the car. Color is most likely going to be along the lines of a grabber blue, with a eggshell clear. Still black accents.

Wow, what a great build thread. I've just read all 12 pages and what a great setup. Sounds like a few things to sort out but that car is a monster!!

I went with a powerglide dedenbear case, 1.80 gears, full of billet. lines are -6 to a cooler under the car. Converter is getting going tighter, i had bad slip issues. magnafuel pump going to a -10 up front to 2 -8 to each rail with a -8 return.

Got the motor pulled and in process of going with a different converter. But while i had some time i decided to do a little wiper metal delete mod to help clear up some much needed space in the engine bay. Not done yet, but after about 6 hours this is where i am at.

Probably wont be doing a perfect paint job on it or anything just because next year i am having Burkhart Chassis put in a full cage, so it would just need to be redone again.

What do you think of it? Is it hard to steer in parking lots and stuff?

no its not too bad at all. Really tight turns are going to be a little hard, but its not horrible. anything with a spool is going to want to go straight on you. But I have not once regreted the switch to manual rack.

Mines currently leaking like a pig, i can get a new rack for 151... but hell manual's lighter and the pump wont rob power. So i might go your route

I thought manual steering was going to be rough, but it's not bad at all. Like blackws666 said I have a spool and it wants to go straight as soon as you let go of the wheel at slow speeds with the wheel turned. Once the car is moving it drives really nicely.
