Default Stay Procharger or go Turbo?

I'm trying to decide if I should switch to turbo or stay with my Procharger. My Camaro is about 90% street and 10% drag car and so far I don't want to give up the 6-speed. I have a LSX block 427 with a F1R Procharger making around 950 rwhp and if I went turbo I would want around the same power or maybe alittle more...1000-1200rwhp.

If I would decide to go turbo should I go say a 91mm or 94mm Single or go with twins?

What's others opinion?

A lot more money to gain a little more hp. It your banks account but I'd stay procharged of I were you. That much street driving. You have tons of hp as it is

Money wise I would think I could do it for about the same amout of money. I could sell my Procharger setup and build my own turbo setup. The instant power with the Procharger is nice.

Stay with what you have. Maybe lighten your car up with some different bumper supports or lightweight glass. Your car is sick and has instant power 950 is nuts.maybe nitrous for more power

If its mostly a street car and your going to keep the 6speed then I would keep the procharger for sure. That's just my 2cents. Either way the car is going to be awsome

Yes I have seen your kit. It looks like an awesome kit. Even if I got top dollar for my Procharger setup I would need to put several thousand to it to be able to go with yours. So unless your willing to offer some exceptional deal for me to prove your system out on a built 427, I'm not interested. So most likely if I would make the switch I would build a kit myself.

Instant power is alot funnier to drive on the street then waiting on a turbo to spool.

Speedracer - I remember you telling me that your buddy had a OFI Single turbo on his Black SS (If I remember right) making 850 or so....Did you get a chance to ride in that car? that might help make your decision. Also, You might want to PM dschimttie...he just made the switch to a Turbo from a 6 speed/Procharger.

If you already have a good reliable combination, then the decision to even consider making the switch sounds to me like you might be bored with what you have, and you just want something new or something to do. If this is the case, and you don't mind the car being sidelined for a considerable amount of time, and the constant fiddling you'll have for awhile to get your home brewed turbo system to the point that you're happy with it, then I'd say go for it. After all, this is what Hot Rodding is all about. Bob

I don't want to consider a bigger blower. I have had soooo many belt issues with the F1R but since I switched to a cogged setup the belt issues seem to not be an issue.

The whole reason I'm even considering it is because I just messed up my impeller on my F1R because I took the air filter off at the track and somehow sucked the electrical connector and wire to the cruise control module in it. Things haven't been simple with the blower but I agree I think I have things pretty ironed out with issues and yes if I would switch I'm sure there would be new issues to figure out and solve. You don't make 1000 rwhp easily.

Yes I rode/tuned my buddies car with the OFI kit but I never drove the car. There are pros and cons to both setups.

I'll have to think about that. I might give you a call and talk to you about your kit.

I'm in the process of making the switch. I'm already missing the instant power of the blower. I havent even gotten the turbo in the mail yet, and I'm already regretting my decision. If you're not having belt issues, then by all means I'd stay with the blower. You're not that far away, once I get my 91mm on and tuned, I'll look you up and you can check out the difference.

Lol @ instant power. You dont have instant power with a blower or turbo. If you properly size the turbo you can be at full spool anywhere you want. I was at full boost at 3k RPMS, giving me 3k RPMs worth of usable boost.
