Question Beck intake on 390 F1A build; benefits over FAST 92mm?

I've done a bunch of research for months and read everything I could on the subject. I would like to hear some opinions on using a Beck sheetmetal intake on a 390/402 F1A build. I currently have a FAST 92mm and PTM 92mm throttle body; I'm pretty set on not using it just for the off chance I have problems with the manifold leaking.

I understand a Beck sheetmetal intake on this caliber of build is overkill, but I'm slowly piecing the parts together and the money side of things isn't the main issue. I would like to hear some opinions on using the Beck manifold for my build. If I don't use the Beck I will probably be trading my FAST for a LS6. Goals for the car are mid to high 9's, eventually.

390/402 with off the shelf AFR 225's.

Thoughts?

If you follow other threads and other peoples results. You can achieve those goals on a stock LS6 intake and TB with ease.

Sheet metal certainly look fabulous, and I'd love for someone to prove they offer a big performance gain for the money, as I'd be tempted to buy one myself.

Ive yet to see it happen though. Value for money nothing beats the LS6 though

I have followed as many similar setups as possible over the last year(and search); I suppose I was curious if I could make the same power with less boost with the Beck then the LS6.

Obviously the Beck manifold will work, will it make the power at a lower boost then a LS6 (or even the 92mm FAST) is what I'm wondering. Thanks.

If the aftermarket intake really does offer better flow on a FI application, then I guess it's possible.

Seems to be the unanswered question though

I was thinking about this combination as well... Do the Becks perform well in a Forced Induction application?

There was one for sale in classifieds that came up a while back. It would not fit under the hood without some serious chopping. they are really nice, but you'd benefit from a larger runner if possible, but its a really expensive intake.

I am doing a 390 F1-A build myself and it has been very expensive. I am sure my FAST 102 will be plenty. They flow well, they fit well, and they look great. Sure it is not a custom sheetmetal intake, but it cost less than half that painted.

Good luck with the build mine will be getting tuned in a month or two.

Back at the old shop we did a build using at the time a brand new 2008 Z06. We yanked out the engine and sold it and started with a new Warhawk engine. The cubic inch remained at 427 with the new engine, and we used a ProCharger F-1R. The customer bought a new Beck sheetmetal intake for it, and it certainly seemed to be overkill for this combination. If I remember correctly, we didn't see more than 19 psi of boost, and with the cam we used, head, etc, we should of seen more than 19 psi. We used a Flip Drive, and did not have belt slippage. The horsepower and torque was not all that high to where we could say the Beck sheetmetal intake produced more horsepower even though it made less boost. I remember thinking back then it would of been nice to try a different intake, as I felt the intake was way over the top for this particular build.
The FAST 92 intake is a very good intake, it is a much better design than the older FAST 90, I would use it for what you are doing. Bob

Would you consider the holley hi ram? I've been wanting the look and performance of a sheet metal intake but not the price. Their just under 700 bones and come with fuel rails

^ youd see some power with the Hi ram especially up top. good luck on fitting it. some have had to space the K member. cut the cowl, and do all kinds of things. it looks great if you sand it a little and powder coat it. its a gorgeous piece of work and costs waaaaay less than beck.

My application is going in a LSx Fox. I got a AES 390, LS3 heads and the Beck intake as well. Intake has a 95mm tb, fogger & a plate kit. My original plan was twin 62's "but" I might have a YSI lined up... I'm just shooting for a 1000hp give or take a 100...
