Heard good things about using Pam cooking spray as an anti spatter. Non toxic to breath and works well.

Right on, I am thinking about doing the same for my Mustang coupe, but really debating if I want to attempt to remove ALL the wires and misc CRAP from the engine bay. Seems like a ton of stuff. I am still trying to figure out which wires I need and which ones I can ditch.

its a ton of work , and for me wiring is spagetti.
but i promise you if you do take it all the way down , take the extra time to clean , sand, plug any unused holes delete unneeded items, it looks so much better once your done , you will be gladyou did.

Lol at the spaghetti comment. I am right there with ya. I am pretty sure I will eventually get it all traced, but for me it takes a ton of time. That is especially true since I did not unplug most of the wires, they were that way when I got the car.

Yeah, nothing about that looks fun, but you're past the hardest part now. Building the motivation to start. Soon you'll have that nice shiny engine bay to be proud of and all will be better

its true, i know nothing when it comes to wiring
hell even old carb'ed small block wiring im iffy with at best.

when i picked up my 5.3 for my build and saw all the wiring, literally my first instinct was to just say d it and go big block / blower / turbo 400 like everyone else.

butthe internet , especially here , is filled with tons of great people ,articles , and most helpful of all PICTURES !

agreed, i was going to weld up all the holes as well but i think for timing and motivation purposes I'm just going to paint lol it will and does look so much better all cleaned up though, definitely worth the work.

nothing wrong with taking your time to get the results your happy with.

ya, I'm going out there in a few minutes to start painting. after that its time to start installing things and rebuilding the motor. those are definitely more exciting to do and I'm sure things will start moving along quicker.

Paul i owe you a visit, sorry just been busy the last couple of weeks. I'm anxious to come see your beast

No problem man. The "beast" is nothing more than a big paperweight right now anyway lol. Still waiting for the funds to get the deck machined and rotating assembly balanced before I can do much of anything anyway

Whenever you're ready I'll have the refreshments cool.
