I have yet to really test it. However, I am taking Leroy to Tx2k this year again, and I will be gaptizing people on the interstate. This thing rolls like the Illinois and Central. All those Supra guys that want to do high rolls are going to get punished, with extreme prejudice. LOL.

Might you be able to elaborate a little bit on which way you would go transmission-wise for what use? Like what would be the proper decision making process to choose between a glide and xxxxxxx (80e?)?
I would appreciate it for sure if you could offer up your thoughts on it, and I doubt I'm the only one.

If you want a car to drive around and use on the street, build an 80E. The introduction of the Glide essentially parked the car for me. I used to drive it everywhere. It was no big deal to drive an hour or an hour and a half to the track and race it. Or, drive to the coast and race friends over there. I drove it all around and all over Houston for 2k. Get it on the road, put it in O/D and lock it up. Cruise all day at 75-80 mph and it was cool and happy. I have not had the car on the road ONCE since I swapped it. Even though it has a 3.55 and a 28, and you would think this is a good cruising combo, my car is just not happy at highway speeds. I have been working on the tune to get it there. However, for me, the Glide is a race trans and little else.
If I were to do it again, I would have sent the converter out for a freshening and rebuilt the 80E with a 2.10 first gear. I enjoyed the car about 90% more before I swapped the trans.
It IS faster, and it will do more with less...but it is not nearly as much fun.

Everyone has a different level of tolerance too. I am 45 now. When I was 18 I had a '65 GTO with a 3.90 rear and a 4 speed that I drove everywhere, including the track. It did not phase me one bit. I guess I got used to the ease of taking this car places with the 80E.

Well, I'm even older, and I have always had cars with overdrives (manuals mostly) so I am really averse to listening to an engine screaming down the freeway. Haha...
PM'd you so I wouldn't derail your thread too far. Thanks again!

It is all together. I have a little more cleanup to do and some more looming...but this is how version 4.0 of Leroy looks. I have to figure out a throttle bracket setup too, or make a longer cable. I would have started it last night but it rained and my battery was too low to really charge up. New battery time.
