I put those ebay studs in before DragWeek this year, and they held up just fine on the "low boost" I was running. 18 lbs max on 799 heads on a 5.3(l33)

But then again the 800 to the rear wheels that I made on the dyno was with the Factory TTY bolts, also at 18lbs.

I torqued them to 75 lbs, with arp lube, not one broke. And I have had ARP bolts break on me before, while tightening them to 75lbs, with their lube also.

Just watched your video again of that pass, makes me giggle every single time. Just to think of what that dude in the silver eclipse was thinking as you flew by him. LOL

Are the rear water jackets from the 799 heads blocked off?

is that kmj bolt kit for both heads complete? wtf thats cheap

Do you think it can make over 20 psi on those bolts?

I know they are not arp but wtf why not try em for that price. Its not like were building 1400hp engines that have over 5k just in the bottom end.

nearly all GM sensors are the same since like 1986, im using junkyard sensors, i usually get the tps and the coolant with the motor, the IAT sensor i cut out of a 3800 series 2 supercharged buick

ive had many many stock head bolted, stock head gasket, even paper gasket motors hold over 20lbs, try not to think of everyhing in PSI though, its relative.

Ok cool, Im thinking of ordering these studs right now just to install them while my heads are off.
But then I keep thinking of just putting in some arp bolts

either way its getting ls9 head gaskets on my 706 heads.

UNLESS you make more power with the 317 heads and driveability is far better than the 706s.

we are gunna put the 317s we had on a newer 4.8l with flat top pistons, and then that is going in a pontiac sunbird and we are gunna hit it with at least 26lbs and those KMJ studs

654rwhp today over 24psi i cant tell how much it was bit my boost controller peaked out at 29, it was blowing out spark anyway.
turned it down to a more manageable 24psi and 641rwhp 600ftlbs

here is the video of it blowing spark and coughing on fuel making 654rwhp

well here is the thing, it seems to have made nearly the same hp.

it did 585rwhp on 18psi before, and it did 590 near that today.

i just turned it up to 24-25lbs

so, i must have a bottleneck somewhere, possibly the stock ls1 intake? or the intercooler? or something. i went bigger turbo and bigger heads and it makes the same power as the 68mm and the 706 heads.

so something is holding it back? or is this just the biggest heart breaker dyno ever lol.

I'd put my money on the ls1 intake. I've seen a couple people make big power on the ls6 though.

my friend has a nearly identical build
th400, 5.3, s475... ls9 cam etc. it had a truck intake and we put a ls6 intake on it.
it picked up 40rwhp on 18psi

made 607rwhp on 21lbs

ive heard of people making 700whp on ls1 intakes... might be the ceiling as i am pushing hard... anyone else on here using ls1 intake?
