Pulled in the shop yesterday just to air my slicks back up and look it over good because I probably wont get a chance to before we all go to the track in a few weeks. Looked at the torque arm for cracks and stuff like that because im not sure how hard ill be on it at the track. I tend to get excited when I go lol. Man those slicks loose air when sitting for a long time. Guess that's the nature of them lol.

Because I plan on north of 1000rwhp with the next round. And if I put good money into a forged rotating assembly I want a fuel system that's not gonna lay down on me lol. I plan on running mainly on pump gas/meth up to 1000rwhp then of coarse ill probably run c16 in there to go on up and when I go for murder time at the track. It may be one of those things where I get started redoing things and it gets way out of hand like most builds do. But that will be ok lol.

Well Dr Turbo (Jose) was right. Around 22-23 psi is all the s475 will make on my setup with the boost referenced to the top port of my wastegate. He told me that would hold the gate shut for the most part. Finally got the ***** to hold out 4th gear on the way to work this morning with it set like that. Makes 20psi in 3rd and 23psi in 4th. So basically i gained a couple psi per gear. I have maxed the turbo out on a cam only ls1 lol. And its still ALIVE!

Few parts came in. 35 spline Moser axles, 5/8" studs with nuts and spacers, and bearings.

On hits of that much boost I stay below 6000 rpm and it doesn't push water. I don't really ever do a 160mph run on the street. 3rd makes 20psi with turbo maxed and I can pop off the limiter without much issue there. Guess there's not enough load in third the lift the heads. But 4th yes, anything 16psi or more above 6000rpm they lift and blow coolant into overflow. But its holding. Feels so nasty at that level. Wish I knew it would hold a full pull on Aaron's mustang Dyno that way it would make the turbo spin and make the 23psi and I'd see what real power is there. Afrs still 11.2ish at that level.

Unless gear calculator is wrong, (6600rpm, 1:1 ratio, 28" tall tires, =160mph)

Its the factory 3.42 gears.

The gear calculator used is here....

May end up going with a 3.25 gear in my new center section when I order it. That puts me plenty of mph potential in there for 1/8 and 1/4 mile runs at my future big power level goals.

The 3.25's will be good anyway as turbos love to be loaded. That is the ratio I want to use in the Chevelle. I'm having a hard time finding any decent performance gears below 3.50 though.

3.25s and 28" tires put me @ 170mph. In 4th gear at 6600rpm.

just read through your whole build... i think I'm persuaded to run a S475 for now since I'm on a tight budget with a kid on the way... it will end up saving a few hundred bucks in the process over a S480. I'm also gonna borrow some of your ideas for when I start my build this fall after getting back from this Afghan deployment.

Yes the s475 for the money will get most people all the power they want. I also have a little girl due here in the next few months so im having to watch money as well. I see in your sig you have a hayabusa. They are fun for sure. I had a 2008 that put down 200 at the wheel. Few mods and tuned. But now that I have a car this fast id much rather have it as the bike. Few more mods and I could run with one on the highway lol.

IF you plan on going auto, go with 3.25s. If you are going to stay with a manual and are keeping the 28s on the car, a 3.50 is a better choice. You arent going to be near 170 in the 1/4 even with a built motor and manual. Its going to take a lot of rpm and boost to get that thing off the line with a 3.25/28" and a stick.

I just put 28" DR's on the car and changed my gears 3.50's. Leaves me with 155mph potential at 6500rpm. More than enough with a stick.

26" tires and a 3.25 gear left 6th gear useless on the highway, and im on the highway a lot.

just food for thought, as ive been through my fair share of gear changes now lol

Really unless im on the interstate doing 80mph with the traffic flow I never use 6th. Ill also at the track once my rear and all my stuff is beef I will probably just slightly heat the slicks up then launch hard letting them spin over a few times then recover. Ive been reading a lot on how the manual guys do it and especially the supra guys. I realize I cant launch at 8000rpm like them lol. You see people launching high rpm and letting the tires spin but running a full slick the tires recover pretty quick. Spinning them a little saves drivetrain because something has gotta give with a manual. Just launch it at high enough rpm to where it gets the turbo online instant lol. It will take some seat time for sure but im planning on a bigger turbo and a forged engine in the near future so im looking at being the 1200-1300hp range on full kill and that should get me in the 160s I would think in the quarter if I can keep me weight down. It will be a learning experience for sure.
