Looks like that gn rear end has been beefed up, I see longer studs an maybe some aftermarket axles in there

yeah it has mosers in it and studs and a minispool and 5.18 gears ! lol

The GN rear is a tough SOB. Good choice! 5.18's? That should work if you want to run about 80mph top speed in OD lmao.

5.18 gears an a mini spool lol sounds like a oval track or dirt track rear end

yes, i want to throw in 3.27-3.73 max probably

most common ones i have found are 3.42 wich is fine with me also

3.42s work perfectly in a GN application, so I don't see why it would be any different for you. There are guys running 11's,10's,9's, etc with them. That's what most 8.5's came with stock. You might be able to pick these up for a good price.

3.08 3.42 3.73 are the most common gears in the jy for a 8.5 rear

if your junkyard shopping, should be a sticker on the door or in glovebox with the codes.

1999-2004 Silverados
GU4 3.08
GU6 3.42
GT4 3.73

2005 and up Silverados had 3.23, 3.42, 3.73 gears
GU5 3.23
GU6 3.42
GT4 3.73

oh damn, well i would be happy with anything really in the 3.xx range wich they pretty much all are, hell i wouldnt say no to 4.10 either, i plan on running a 27-28 inch tall tire in the back so a little more aggressive gear might help out, i think 3.73 would be nice

Running a 3.73 with a 28 inch MT DR in my Gbody...paired up with a Super Victor BW 75mm and a hefty Tick cam...she should really move out!!!

Rate you move, though, you shoudl know how it works before I do...lol

i am so busy at work and at home and with side projects and tuning hahah, all goes well we will get the trans built tonight and i can start to put the motor back in around friday since my wednesday and thursday night are busy totally not car related

my twin sister is coming home from the army (Stationed in germany and afghanistan) for some leave then going to kentucky.

then maybe this weekend i will get the rest of this thing together and fired, but home stretch already haha, i just need to get some gears and swap this rear, measure a driveshaft and efans, radiator hoses etc etc

super busy lately, but trans is built and back together, motor and trans are almost ready to go in, i have to put the oil drain in the timing cover i think, might have to pull the balancer, might have to put the turbo kit on one last time and make sure hahah

Are you guys sure those gears in those pickups will fit in the 8.5 inch rear? If so i can put them in my 80 Z28 rear then? Its stock 8.5 from the factory with 3.73. I would like to go 3.23 if possible.
