There's a little extra room on the inside right now(probably around 3/4" per side). The car hooked up pretty good at the track, especially considering the low stall. I might not need as much tire as the engine builder thinks for it to perform respectably. This rearward weight bias definitely helps keep wheel spin down.

I hope you are correct. So far this has just been an extended shopping spree, but my pistons came back from coating this week so they can now bore the block(last machine work), and my heads should be back from T&D with new rockers in another week or two.(last head work) Maybe by the end of the year the builder will be able to start putting all these pieces together.

No track time with the car. Nor do I race SCCA. I will tell you though, if it's a race car you are after save yourself some time/money and buy a more modern platform. They are great cars and handle well for their time but to make this a fast track car it needs a lot of work. If your just looking to get out there and have a good time than by all means the Datsun can be competitive but if your looking to finish first regularly I would steer you in another direction. Unless of course you have a large bank roll and plenty of time/patience.
As unoriginal as it is, the C5 is still IMO the best bang for your buck sports car on the market. The amount of engineering you get for 10K is really hard to beat.

The only reason I asked on a Z was because a close friend offered to just give me one that's pretty clean with a blown engine. He bought 4 for 400 bucks as parts cars and thought an ls swapped turbo t56 Z would be an absolute blast and be fairly fast in terms of playing around.
