No bad rods/pistons.
I'm going to guess weird electrical/tune gremlins continued after MAP sensor problem. Probably wouldn't hurt to do rings since it's apart.

Well it should be plainly obvious what the problem is...
The muffler bearing is to tight...
It's just not "sloppy" enough for a sloppy build.
Oh...And no need to thank me.
Will just consider this one a freebie...lol
But seriously....Kinda a half dozen one way and a half dozen the other type of deal.
Sucks that you didn't find the problem straight off...But it's nice not to have to replace busted parts.
Here is a short list of my "back seat" mechanic possibles.
1) Rings lost tension. (Possible but I kinda doubt it)
2) Broken valve spring.
3) Valves not sealing.
4) Possible drive train issue. (trans, converter, rear end.) Don't believe it is but probably worth checking if everything else checks out.
5) Problem with sensors, computer etc. not reading or showing true boost, timing, afr etc.
6) And my number one pick...
The ghosts of broken sloppy engines of past coming out to haunt and steal horsepower from you...
To me, it just kinda seems eerily familiar to Fairmont 5...
You might want to put Ghostbusters on speed dial.
Whatever it is I hope you nail it down soon it and get it back to rippin up the streets and dyno.

I have seen bad carrier bearings in a rear end eat up hp.
I threw the drivetrain out as a last ditch thing if nothing else shows up.
I might change my mind about ring tension. It still could be a possibility if he was getting any indications of possible blow by but I don't really remember him saying specifically that he did.
I was just remembering when we went really lean on one of our Blown BBC alcohol motors many moons ago.
Figured that we had hurt it, so tore it down to find that everything looked fine.
Threw it back together and ran it only to find it down on power and lots of blow by going into the catch can.
Changed rings out and everything was a happy camper.
I really thing it could be broken or weak valve springs.

Saw you're now running the Holley system. Sweet! The little 3.5" screen is awesome. Especially with the V4 upgrade. You can monitor and change all your ethanol/flex fuel tables on it. Along with rev limiters, boost curve, etc. Probably already knew that, but I brag about that little LCD a lot! Lol. Good luck with the truck this time, hope it works out.

Why would he miss it, unless he sold it? Racepak is easily used with Holley. Some of the Racepak units come with the adapter to plug right into the holley can-bus connector and others need an adapter box but its easy to do. Racepak software looks old as hell though, they need to update that.
