Yeah not real sure how a SX369 can't make more than 550whp... I've had S366's do that and more.

I was wondering the same thing about that charger. According to borgwarner match bot it would do 750hp at the flywheel on 12 psi in the 1.05 ar turbine housing on a 5.3. So figure a rough 20% drive line loss thats 600 tire on 12 psi.

I thought OLD GOLD with the olive green 5.3 swapped 280z had a billet S366. Thought he made around 650 at 18lbs. Same guy that bought Denmah's old fairmont. I'll see if I can find it.

Exactly. If you can't make 550whp with a SX369 you're not doing it right.

I swapped from a pair of Turbonetics Tseries Billet 7568s with .81AR to the Borg SXE 369s with 73mm turbine and 88AR. Power was down 200hp and spool went to crap. The netics would be all in at 4600rpm and the borgs werent all in till 6200. I swapped cams and changed stators a few times. I finally put the Turbonetics back on and power/spool was back. I later swapped to a pair of precisions and picked up over the netics. You couldn't pay me to try any of the SXE369s ever again. Testing was done up to 26psi. This was all done about 10 months ago.

550/600 is still a far cry from 800.....

About to go w a s400 80/96 in either cast or billet and be done w it

Thought the biggest wheel in a s300sxe was 69mm?

Great info, thanks. Never hear much about the new SXE line on the V8's. What kind of times were you running? weight?

I've been looking at Quick-silvers 3200lb s10 going 5.0's @ 140 in the 1/8th with a 6.0 and cast 66's running out of injector. Thinks it will go faster with more fuel.

Is that 75mm the inducer size of the Turbonetics ? Bigger compressor, you'd expect more power, although the spool is maybe surprising.

What size engine etc ?

Out of interest too...despite the AR numbers, how did the actual hole inside the turbine housing look ? The 0.88's on my 364's the hole looks really small. I got a pair of AGP 0.96 housings to try and the hole inside the scroll is massive by comparison. I had no pressure issues...just that small hole always annoyed me lol so will change them and see

What Precisions did you move to ?

Its in a 4200# truck, no track times on the new setup. Its not legal for the track. With the netics its been low 10s at 143mph on 15psi with traction issues.

Just go with whatever flavor of 7875/7675/7575 you choose and like the price of. They make great power (over your goal) and aren't massive like an s480.

I had a reply typed and it decided to disappear. The Tnetics were 75mm billet inducer and 102mm exducer on compressor side, and 77mm IIRC inducer and 68mm on the exducer on the turbine. They were out of steam at 31psi and wouldn't make any more power. With the SXE I machined the vband to a normal 3" and didnt really notice it being any smaller on the ID than normal. I run 4" downpipes with a 3"-4" transition that is 1.5" long. The precisions are the CEA 6766s with .81AR. So far Ive had it up to 34psi and its still making power.

The engine is a alum 5.3 with Tooley TFS 220 heads and Cam. Andreas Cooper ring gaskets and 1/2" head studs. Wiseco pistons and Callies rods. PTC 10 clutch glide with a 15-40 stator. The Holley 160# injectors are at 75psi and are rated to 221# with a belt driven pump. IDC is 95%. I run a dominator setup and at 34psi AFR is 11.3 and 15* of timing at 7800rpm. The engine combo has been together since 2012 with minor changes here and there

Very interesting !

And quite surprising too....seemingly the smallest turbos, are making the most power ? I wonder is it a case of them being a better overall unit...or it just so happened a better match to the engine itself ?

The Precision wheels are far superior to the netics and borg wheels. The CEA 66mm turbine is suppose to flow 90-92# vs the 68mm netics wheel only flowing 80#. If you look at a comparison the blades are alot thinner than older designs.

That's only a comparison between an old Precision and the "new", although even those are a few years old now

There really isnt a lot of difference between the new 66mm Precision turbine wheel and 68mm BW turbine wheel on the likes of my 364FMW which would be same as the 68mm SXE wheel.
I assume the 73mm SXE would also be comparable although I havent seen one myself

Likewise, the compressor wheel in my 364 is almost identical to a 6466CEA2. So it's hard to follow that the power difference might be from that alone.

The TN turbine wheel may well be very different, but still very surprising results. Not too often people would try so many units though and actually get results though.

Ive had the Borg 73mm, Borg 68mm, Tnetics 75mm, Tnetics 68mm, and CEA 66mm all lined up on a bench for comparison, The Borg and netics wheels are very similar in design and shape with the netics having a little more aggressive fin angle on the inducer side. The CEA wheel has been lightened everywhere compared to the others, and shares the more aggressive inducer angle that the netics f1 wheels have.
