Project Hairy Banana (1967 Camaro single turbo)
#521
Style wise some cars realllllllly look tight with the big meats and first gens especially look fantastic with em. Plus theres not much hiding up your game going on with this build for the grudge crowd so might as well go loud and proud and make launches easier for ya. As for taking time off to build a HotRod?
You know you gettin serious when....
Wish I could help, i'd love to wrench on that car especially since I unloaded my boost build for a boat haha. Wife likes boat, boost car not so much, so we happy

I think sometimes projects move quicker if they sit in someone else's garage or shop because they want to get it out. My car sits happily in my garage in a non running state.
I might as well make a list to show what needs to be done:
-Rear brake lines
-Remove old battery (super easy)
-Reclock turbo, oil drain is on the top
-Weld mounting tabs for new radiator
-Weld in waste gates
-Weld on AN fittings for radiator water lines (race car **** right there)
-Figure out how I'm mounting 5 bar map sensor
-Tap oil pan for turbo drain
-Mount radiator ran
-Mount trans cooler
-Eventually replace rear shocks and springs
-Wire car

As for the map sensor did you see the nice **** motion race works has for sensor mounting? I could go nuts buying **** from there but it’s not cheap.

It's warmed up in Chicago, so us old guys dusted off our garage clothes and got working. Finished up brake lines. Pulled an axle, they are 31 spline, car has a 9", supposedly has a posi. Something to think about down the line, right now we need to finish it up.
Going to start the wiring this week.

The 31spline will be ok so long as you get your launch sorted out without wheel hop and whatnot. Considering the support around you my guess is this is very likely. Theres a local guy to me with an 8second second gen who runs stock 30spline and c-clip elims. It can be done but it is something to be wary of. If issues arise go straight to 35 and a spool

Rainy sunday, we:
-Reclocked turbo
-Started wiring car
-I started removing rear shocks, buddy selling me a set of new strange coilovers for dirt. Just need to buy some new bolts.
-Had one more 90 degree brake line fitting to do, 100% done there.

-Rear Strange Engineering coilovers installed.
-Removed Taylor battery box, it's just too big for my trunk. Installing Tin Soldier Racecars battery tray.
-Removed old heater delete panel, too flimsy to support the computer being mounted to it. Installing new block off panel, much stronger.
Tonight will swing by Menards again (local hardware chain) and get bolts / nuts for the block off plate, and I can find them 1/2" nylock locking nuts for the coil overs.
Any frst genner's know how easy it is to figure out the factory wiring harnesses...
