Greg, 2 speed fan, I just have high wired up.

3 window yeah I hear ya, that's the plan , I do want to put some real miles on it before I would make track passes. Thanks for your brake help the other month, it was that damn push rod lol.

@The ****** I got just in 2 bottles of water wetter, will try those and turning the fan to 180-185. I'll update you guys.

I also ordered a chin spoiler (AMD) not sure when that gets here.

I'm not sure if this is accurate so take it at face value but I've been watching a lot of videos lately about tuning with HP Tuners since I'm learning to tune my own car and there's a resounding opinion that if you're running a 185 degree stat that you want the fans to come on at 195 since that's where the stat is fully open and then shut off at 184 so you don't get fluctuations or hysteresis in stat operation.
I've got a Davies Craig setup so this doesn't apply to me but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

I'm running a gutted stat but that's worth noting. I compared notes with a few other folks and they all tend to turn on a big single fan on sooner with one guy being the exception. He's running a single Cruze fan FWIW.

Chin spoiler showed up today (AMD), waiting on the brackets and hardware.

We had record rain here, so I just changed radiator fan setting and added some Water Wetter. My assumption is the car will run cool enough for me to forge ahead.

I need to:
-Grab some E85
-Work with Andrew to config big pump in the Holley
-Make some boost
-Test transbrake and bump

Seems like we're both delayed by the weather.
I've spent hours setting up my HP Tuners for data logging and tuning but was promptly shut down by a record breaking heat wave here in the PNW.
Sorry but not getting in a black car with no AC and data logging in 104 degree heat lmao.
Fingers crossed for both of us this weekend John.

have you looked into just having an aluminum shroud made to cover the whole radiator? @Atomic has made a few for trucks iirc. no idea on the price , but find a nice 16/17" fan and have him offset it where you can mount it - may be able to make the whole deal lower profile also

@randeez Yeah I'm thinking of a custom shroud the next time the car is by my fabrication buddy. (I'd also change the angle of my intake pipe so I have a little more clearance up top too.

@The ****** I'm planning to drive around this weekend.

Yeah I live in such a congested part of actual Chicago that I need the car to have decent cooling.

Im not a fan of restrictor plates for cooling or gutted stats. For racing sure, for street use every time ive tried ( we tried this a lot in the early years ) it always ends up overheating. Id run a stat

^In reference to Cam's comment or something else?

I'm going for "good enough" on the cooling.

Yeah, don’t buy into the “thermostats keep it from overheating” BS. It’ll be fine. Seeing 205-215° while in traffic is no big deal for these engines. Run good oil and it’s all good.

no tstat here either, most of my problems are self induced - with the ewp on the radiator, it becomes the low pressure zone.
cools almost too good (170* temps) running/idle/beating the hell out of it - but as soon as it builds some steam it just turns into a runaway cycle and the water pump pulls all the steam into the radiator.
currently trying the steam ports into somewhat of a swirl pot to give the steam somewhere to collect and from the bottom of it back into the hose between the engine and top of radiator

Yeah I don't buy into that at all. My gutted stat still acts as restrictor, didn't measure but must knock down the access a good amount.

Jamie, I'm okay with 205-215 in slow traffic. I was planning to take Capiz' suggestion from a while back and run Rotella, what ya think? Also thanks again for the chat a while back, those chats get me back in the garage.

I installed an OEM style chin spoiler today, maybe it will help with temps when driving, give it some down force. I do know the 9 year kid across the alley told me now it really looks like Bumble Bee lol. Supposed to be 91 Sun-Mon but will drive it one of those days.

I need to work with my buddies with the Holley to find the big pump and start using it (Weldon 2345A).

Also random comment, but I'm going to for sure move the car to a 295, err'thang low as hell in back.

Rotella 15w40 here. I’ve got a 5.5qt pan so I run 7qts. It was 85° this morning and I went grocery shopping and got the drive through for some coffees and ran an average of about 190°. That was all stop and go.
