This past weekend I didn't really have time to mess with the car until later in the day. Saturday went for a long drive, and Sunday for another one, about 2.5 hours driving.

Cooling system is mint, despite it being quite warm on Sunday the driving temps ranged from 189 to 197F.

While the brakes stop well, I got something going on, might be warped ( or glazed?) rotors. I did two hits on the ______ expressway and stayed in it for a long time. I'll have a buddy take a look who is a brake guy. Might be a toe / alignment issue too.

I'm going to check the back again, something is making some occasional metal to metal noise when going from load/ non load situations. I think it could be the shocks, maybe the rod ends are moving around a little and I need to add in some spacers/washers, noise sounds like it's coming from a high spot on the left rear.

Once I get the front end shudder/vibration sorted I'll make some runs at GLD.

I decided I'm not in love with the early 70s scoop it went on a shelf for now.

Thx just re-read it.

Yeah right now I have a 2.48 stock geared TH400 and a 3.50 out back. My SLR is way high but I know some folks who ran this gearing down to 7.99 but they would be the exception, most folks that I track on the LSX Record list are running a 1.8 powerglide which would put the SLR in the 6's.

But I'm also keeping the car on a 29.5 tire for the most part.

I'm most likely would buy a different gear set for the trans, maybe the 1.95 combo from Coan or something like that. I think there are a few options out there, not cheap.

I’ve had a th400 and now a 1.80 glide with a 3.55 gear. The converter is key to making the glide work IMO.

Nice.I don't know much about custom gear sets but a 1.9 first with stock 1.48 2nd gear seems like it would work well. I know that some guys run all sorts of custom gear ratios. I definitely won't go higher on the rear gear, 3.50 to me is about the limit of something I can cruise on long stretches.

I've got a new helmet coming, some new headlights coming. I'm waiting to meet with Graham at Fast Times to coordinate the engine build, as soon as he comes up for air.

Speaking of air, I'm looking heavily at adding on-board air to my combo. I'll ask in a new thread.

I’d say that 1.90 first is gonna hang on the converter just like a glide, but yes, I agree that would be sweet. IMO I’d run what you have until you get the new engine in the car, then adjust the gearing and converter once you know how it’s gonna act. I’m sure you’ve probably had or rode in a car with a glide to know that they’re streetable. A 1.90 first gear th400 would act similar.

Yeah I wouldn't switch to a glide at the moment because of the cost of a nice one and I like holding out second gear and doing rolling hits.

I'm gonna continue to read about gear sets (planetaries) but don't plan to go into the trans until the engine is out. I don't know if this trans has a nice input shaft that might be something to add too.

Got an aligment done at Thalmann's in Northbrook, front was way off in every way but the rear was already squared up nice.

Drove home nice but I will re balance the front tires now

Yeah the scoop is on the shelf indefintely, will be at least a grand to get a custom hood made with it. All near future spending will be on the LC9/220 engine combo that I'm scheduling to get done at Fast Times. The engine will be running all Summit Racing rotating parts, misc. hardware and a set of TFS 220s.

Alignment - check
New helmet - check

I plan to tow the Camaro with my truck but I don't plan to tow with the Camaro.

I've accomplished 90% of my goal, which was having a car I could reliably drive anywhere around Chicagoland.

I've done over 13 hours of street driving in the car.

What's left is to take out out to GLD and make some passes this year or next, add boost cutout and Graham @ FastTimes will get going next few weeks on the LC9/220 Summit Racing build.

Another PSJ micro update.

Lowered the back of the car 1.25-1.50, looks great.

PS. I also found a paint guy who's local and a guy I've met who raced at GLD. He will probably end up painting some of the car in '23.

Thanks! I measured the quarters and the driver's side has to come up a smidge.

I really like how the car sits now.

Sits nicer. I still have my longstanding shake in the front end even after the alignment. A little noticeable at 55, bigtime at 80.

Been advised to re balance front tires and re balance the drive shaft.

And check pinion angle and wheel bearings.
