Its more dependent on RPM and boost level. If you're only running 5 psi or so its not really a big deal. If you're going up from there its best to pin it.

I had a 6-8psi pulley on my LT1. I’m basically just doing a sloppy build so keeping crank, pistons/rods original. Will stay in the 6k rpm range and boost level that gets me to my goal.

I was only running 5-7 psi and pinned my crank for peace of mind.

Also no people in Wyoming! Drive through Virginia, known as strictest on 95. That’ll let you know whats legal or not.

Plus not like any of those clapped outlaws are street cars anyways, nor are they anywhere near the fastest. I wish they didnt get approval, show is AIDS. Makes everyone with a modified car look like a podunk hillbilly fkn his cousin.

Just want some nice power out of it. Had Vortech in the past so might go with Procharger this time not sure yet but everyone has always said cranks must be pinned.. I only had maybe 200miles on my camaro but also didn’t beat on it. But the tuner screwed up the engine anyhow. My question is I don’t need to pin my crank? I don’t know how high I’m going to be rev the engine but you see my hp goal. Not trying to be off topic just asking if the crank pin is really needed or mainly just for a race car... Budget build so not wanting to spend what I won’t need. Thanks guys.
You swapped an LS into a 1994 Z.....NOT A STREET CAR ANYMORE........move along please.......LOL JUST KIDDING......

From what I've learned, you have no need for a crank pin kit at that power level.....but I'm still learning about this shiiiii---stuff......

Curious: How long is that job from start to finish to install the crank pin kit? Considering a good shop that knows how to do it. Or is it easy for anyone to do?

Its pretty straightforward with the kits they have now. Probably an hour or so if you take your time.

I guess it wouldn’t hurt so it though for safety and if down the line I boost up... I read even some NA guys get it done.

It's easy and in my opinion mandatory with a super charger. I actually put 2 pins in mine on my current motor, but only took a picture after the first pin for some reason...use plenty of tap magic on the drill bit...Also recommend an ARP balancer bolt.

Someone upthread mentioned a single twin scroll turbo with the dual V-band inlet to reduce packaging size. Those are neat. How much power can you get from one?

I didn't even know such a thing existed until this thread, and my first search showed me a GTX3584RS... which is a nice turbo for a daily driver, but not what the OP is looking for.

Definitely will and a ATI damper and bolt. Your engine looks nice and clean. Need to scrub mine down pretty soon. Also see your extra support for the engine stand what made you decide to do that?

I couldn't find a twin scroll V-band inlet housing larger than the GTX3584RS, even on TIAL's website.

Plus, the OP asked for single turbo street cars... so a pair of anything making 4000hp is irrelevant.

The ARP balancer bolt takes a lot of torque so I put it there for extra support while I torqued the balancer bolt. Otherwise wasn't really needed.

GT55 turbo...supposed to support 1,900 HP.....it should fit my turbo kit with a little massaging, just slightly larger outer dimensions as the S400 chassis.

The S400 chassis now has a 91/104 stuffed inside it. that now has 92/104 internals. Supposed to support 1,300-1,400 HP.

What cubic inch would be best for the GT55....? No Lag......fast spool.

Ya the 91 works but its pretty tapped out by 12-1300. I’d rather have an 88mm GT55 with its 112mm turbine on that cubic inch then a 91 S400 with the 104.

If whoever is doing your tune cant get a 390 or 427 to lightoff a GT55 quickly they shouldn't be tuning it. I have 5.3’s huffing 25psi in a second and a half and thats on a slow boost ramp to get it to hook.

How's would the top end be with a GT55 and 390ci......like running out of steam? This is for a roll racer only........40-50mph - 160+.

Disclaimer....(Texas Mile events and other sanctioned events, not racing through city streets....LOL)

”Mexico Events” Top end is plenty, 160 isnt a problem, it should trap higher then that in the 1/4 on fairly low boost.
