yeh I figured it out and that's what I got, but I changed the 65cc to 62cc because the heads are ported. There also milled .040 so how would I calculate that? Could I just subtract that from the head gasket number and put it at .015?

porting isn't going to reduce chamber volume, if any unshrouding has been done that would increase it , unless there has been some welding/ reshaping done - unlikely . Someone must know the number of thou per cc for milling these heads . Subtracting from the gasket thickness will be fairly close but not entirely accurate as the chamber is not round and the size of the gasket. Maybe put in .025 for gasket and you'll be real close, probably 9.6 - 9.7 .

U

understood, I put it 64cc because that's what it says 243 are factory and I changed the gasket to .025.

I was just gonna say you should be a little over 10:1 which is perfect on those 5.3’s let alone any performance street motor…..congrats, its gonna be a BLAST…..just make sure your cam and convertor jive together……3000 stall is always fun on the street and not too rowdy but not lame either!!!

I have a circle d 258mm that says its stalls to 3800, cicle d took all the specs of my truck and put it together for me. Also as far as the cam goes i had a truck cam in it and it would fall on its face after 6500rpm and i was going to buy a turbo cam but my tuner said let him order the cam because he likes to get the cam cut to certain specs.

My 5.3 is 10.5:1 on E85 and it absolutely RIPS. I don't even have it really tuned yet either. I've seen 18PSI at the top of 4th gear, pulling like a freight train. Can't wait for spring! You're gonna have a blast with yours, for sure.

I'm just patiently waiting, hopefully right after Christmas I'll keep the block and transmission back and start putting everything together and it ripped like it was, just didn't last lol.

3800 circle D stall, oh yeah your in for a definite good time…..please post lots of pics when its time to put the motor together…..nothing better than ENGINE ****!!!…..i had a 5.3 that i built with 4.8 flat tops and an ASA cam with a 3000 stalled th350 in a ‘68 c10 with a 3.73 twelve bolt rear…..man that truck was a ripper for sure and motivates me to build another motor similar to it with the spare parts and cam i have laying around…..for the record i “just say no” to dished pistons and every engine i build gets blessed with flat tops……because next to displacement you always want COMPRESSION!!!…… my nova that has a LSA supercharger is running close to 11.15:1 compression and with a proper tune by trevor couture at TCtuned it works just fine with boost at that compression…..i may tone it down a hair though when i build my 408…. Im thinking 10.05:1, should be ok on the 91 i get around here…the current 370” at 11.15:1 needs a bottle of boostane at every fillup of 91…..without it , it sounds like marbles in my oilpan….so yeah that stuff adds another $30 to every fillup and i usually buy it in a case of 6 from summit for almost $200 every month or two!!!

my gen 3 motor that tanked actually had dished pistons and a truck cam so im hoping the lighter aluminum block with the flat tops and custom cam and transbrake will make a big difference. The 11.0 and 128mph wasn't bad first the first run before it blew but im hoping to get deep into the 10's .hoping that 11.0 turns into a 10.0, ill actually get a log on it when i finally get it to the track and get my tuner to adjust the tune while im there, mind you it was hot as hell here when i took it to the track and our heat here is humid and torturous so it definitely wasnt racing weather. I'll definitely post pictures when I get everything back. I only run e85 in the truck, it has a flex fuel sensor but e85 is very easy to get here in Louisiana so I don't ever put regular gas in it.

I need to do e-85 conversion on my c10,nova,and cts-V…..seeing how they are all supercharged i bet it would work out very well in my favor!!!…i would just have to get bigger fuel pumps (injectors) or a boost-A-pump along with the correct ptfe lines and fuel sensor…..ive been on the fence for a while and i think if i do go that route the c10 would be the easiest to start with!!!…..yeah the flat tops in your aluminum block is gonna be a night and day difference, plus your shaving off 100lbs give or take….

man honestly the flex fuel sensor is so easy to install so it was a no brainer for me, I have the Huron speed bucket for my truck that comes with dual 525 pumps and I have bosch 210 injectors so im good on fuel. It's 8an from the pump into 10 micron filter, from there it goes to a split that goes into the back of both fuel rails and the front goes to the regulator then back to the tank. All evil energy stuff so it was fairly cheap besides the actual pumps and injectors of course. Im hoping around February for it to all be back together.

You're gonna be much happier this time around.
You definitely had a bad go at it at first.
Tell the tuner not to get to greedy with the tune and it'll live for a while.
