Projected horsepower
Sounds good bro…..any progress is good progress in my book….for the record i have a 3.42 rear in my nova as well , its gotta yukon posi unit in it and its a 8.5” 10 bolt as well….its worked just fine for what i need it to do!!!……..looking foward to those pics of that new (to you) motor….should be a nice lil fun upgrade compared to the LM7
They said I can do it but that I was rolling the dice lol.
lol I'll roll with it until I can't, it hadn't given me any problems so im ok with chancing it.
lol I'll look into it, I'll talk to my tuner too. He's pretty knowledgeable when it comes to building cars. He just starting building at Ltd with a 1000 hp twin turbo 4.8
Transmission and transbrake arrived at franks today, tuner measuring bore size on block as we speak. Since it had aftermarket pistons he said we needed to measure bore to confirm size. That's a little more then I'm comfortable doing but I trust his word. He does me well, but he says block looks good.
I was thinking theses pistons with but im debating rods, I'm going to go ahead and go all forged. Might as well while I'm at it. Much harder to choose now since the pistons are 3.800 bore. Before I could just choose a piston and rod combo, now I have to choose separately. Maybe someone can chime in summit for some advice and are the rods meeting the specs of these pistons and does anyone see anything that would cause any issues out of the 3?
That is some serious overkill, you can get a set of replacement .020” over drop in pistons that will work on your gen 4 rods and be done with it and save a butt load of money…..but if u wanna go that route with all this nice new summit stuff font forget you most likely are gonna have to have it balanced which is just gonna be another $300 to add to the bill….. if you just get replacement drop in .020 gen 4 slugs you can drop them right in and head for the races……i used drop in replacement .030 LS2 flat tops with a set of gen 4 rods attached to the original 24x gen 3 crank with zero issues, didnt even have it balanced….15k+ mi later and its still holding up just fine under my 2.45” pulley’d LSA blower…..save your money and just get the replacement hyperutectic .020 drop in pistons…(3.800”) youll be just fine for what your trying to do!!!!

I installed Summit Pro LS domed 3.810" pistons and H-beam rods in my 5.3, along with a polished factory crank. When Steve Morris spun it up, it needed nothing - was already good to go. Summit has apparently done a good job of matching weights with factory Gen IV pistons and rods. Just an FYI

yes flat top with valve reliefs and i dont know how to calculate compression, when I buy parts my tuner gives me the specs of whatever part I need to buy and that's what I buy. I know the compression height on the pistons are 1.304 and i know my heads are milled 40 thousands.
