Is that just like 2.5" rubber hose connecting your charge pipe together??

basically yes. however it is more durable & stronger than 4 ply silicone and is readily available at your diesel parts store

I hope to have a better combination there shortly when I go to raise the turbo up a good 1.5 inches. Right now its a pain as the turbo outlet is 2.5 inch; and the original STS piping I'm running is 2.25 inch, so I have to go down in size. and there are also tie wraps there which prevent the tubing from falling and going under the tire if it were to come off the 2.25 pipe.

hope to have a flare to go from the 2.25 to 2.5 and a bend so that I can use just a solid piece of tubing.

I just wanted to say that using the radiator hose on your cold side is freakin genius, and I hope you don't get angry at me when I use your idea!

edit: I am of course assuming it is your idea. I've just never seen it done before.

If you go to a place that supplies parts for large diesel engines or maybe napa they have some hose that works perfect, super strong with nylon plys in the rubber.

Perfect! Just need to make a few measurements. Would it be ok to use this in two different spots? Like from the turbo to the long cold pipe and then the long cold pipe to the intercooler? I don't plan on using too much, just in a spot or two where I don't have the bends to get to some different places.

Just wanted to comment in this thread about the importance of wrapping your exhaust, I wrapped mine and it DRASTICALLY reduced lag. It was night and day. Awesome.

go for it. the diesel radiator hoses are QUITE stronger than your typical car radiator hose just for those wondering.... I would BET MONEY on it outlasting the silicon hoses.

Plus as a extra bonus I noticed it doesn't squish and try to slide under the clamp when you tighten them down.

Gonna bump this up to ask a quick question concerning the use of radiator hose on the cold side piping at the risk of sounding like a cheapo ghetto builder...
Would there really be a downside to using this hose on multiple places on a rear mount setup? Seems like it would be much easier to use this to clear a few bends than to cut and weld mandrel bent exhaust piping to do the job. I was thinking of using it to to from the turbo to a straight pipe near the frame rail and then again to connect it to the piping close to the intercooler. Seems to me like it would make quick and easy work of clearing the rear axle and getting it up far enough to keep from scraping near the front of the car by the k member and such. As long as it isn't too close to the hot pipes to keep it from melting and isn't anywhere where it would potentially be pinched shut I'm not seeing a downside to this. The diesel radiator hose is rated up to a huge amount of PSI, it is stronger than silicone couplers, there would be no worry of ground clearance issues, and there would be no worry of rusting issues on the inside of it like some cheap exhaust piping.
The only downside I'm seeing would be that it wouldn't look as pretty. But I'm only talking about 5-6 feet of it in spots that you wouldn't see unless you were under the car.

I've used the diesel hose under the axle it works good, down side is it's expensive, I think I paid about $24 a foot.

What diameter is the charge piping on these rear mount setups?

all the standard STS piping is 2.25 inch.

My turbo outlet is 2.5 inch.... I actually wish everything was 2.5 inch... but so be it.

BTW... Updates.... Lifted up turbo ~2 inches. Purchasing turbo blanket in the next month, so when I get back from traveling I can install it along with a lot of other stuff around the house and on the Daily driver.
Long story short... a replacement OEM cd player from GM, their retail price for my malibu is $660 bucks... I looked the guy right in the eye and said you are stupid. Getting a new head unit online for the dd.

curious why you redid with hard pipe.
now you will have the same problem I do that I am trying to get rid of.
your control arm is gonna smack that pipe at times while driving and any time you want to jack the car up you have to remove the pipe.
if you still have that length of diesel hose and want to sell it let me know.
i routed my pipe the same as you but used a stock Y pipe to take advantage of the oval for more clearance but want to change it to like you had before to eliminate the issues I mention above.

Actually, my modification was done with the car on a lift with the rear end FULLY down. SO, the control arm is not a problem, the sway bar is not a problem, and the rear end is not a problem. It will never hit that pipe.
I am 200% sure of this, and my shop guy already tested it and I tested it after him, no interference problems.

The diesel hose can be had at any diesel retailer...you can even call around. I think it was ~$20 or so for 3 feet.

thank you for that. Greatly appreciated. I'm in the works of doing the bung & screw in IAT sensor. Also going to get that hard aluminum pipe exterior powder coated.

other news....
Now I have to get to my daily driver car and swap the head unit (receiver). It is a 2006 malibu maxx, and the cd won't eject. Tried getting in there with a tool to get the cd out... no luck. Went to GM, a recertified unit is $250, and then the guy told me a brand new one is $660. I looked him in the face and said "who the **** do you think you are?" he had no response. I then told him I can get a fully functional mp3 player, ipod player...etc for $400 with all parts.

He then gives me this look of oh, you stupid young guy (25 years old here) don't know how to install that thing. and I then tell him I've got 8 years under my belt of this **** and I'm an electrical engineer. Again, didn't have crap to say back.
