10 Bolts were stock....... not sure what the question is. Looks like you have a BMR torque arm and an aftermarket braced pumpkin cover.

IIRC, the only difference between 4th gen and 3rd gen 10 bolts are the width and you had options like 3 or 4 channel rears on 4th gens. Do you have TCS?

no I do not and I think the 3rd gens are 7.75 and not 7.5 I was hoping someone would be able to tell if it's actually that, the previous owner said it was out of an 89 iroc but I believe those are 9 bolts right?

It is most definitely a 10 bolt. If it is infact out of a thirdgen then it's about 2 inches narrower overall (1" on each side). That will suck the stock rear wheels towards the center of the car. If they fit the rears in a stock fashion then it is most likely a stock 10 bolt with a t/a girdle cover, tq arm, relocation brackets, and lower control arms. The only real question is what is behind the cover. But it doesn't look like anything but a stock rearend.

^+1. With an a4 you can go alot faster on a 10 bolt than with an m6, mostly due to the fact that you typically can't hit the rear tires as hard on the launch.

In short, I wouldn't consider any tire "safe" on the 10-bolt if you plan to launch hard or heavy stress on the rear end.

That being said, many of us have had success with DR's on 10-bolt cars as long as we minimize the things that increase stress on the rear.

I got roughly 30K miles out of my 10-bolt ring and pinion before it finally broke. That was with 600+ rwhp on spray with Nitto drag radials. The trade off is that I only had a couple hard launches and never dead hooked it -- I presume that did a LOT to help extend the life of it.

Looks like a stock 10 bolt to me. 7.5 and 7.625 = same thing.

Looks like a stocker to me also. It does have LCA relocation brackets and a T/A cover. I have those same items on mine also and run DR's with a 6M. Dont be afraid to light em up!
