they are more than twice as much as standard replacement pads, but are they worth it? I was talking to the manager at autozone today and he highly reccomends them. He said he uses them on his 01 GT and 90 Gt that he races.
They are supposed to stop better, make you rotors last longer, and last a whole lot longer than regular pads.
I already bought these for my sisters 98 GT today and i want to know if i spent the extra money for nothing.

I have had a set of PF on my truck for almost 6 years and have had no trouble out of them. Every time that I buy brake pads I buy PF. You won't regrete it.

Just don't get the "Z-Rated" pads, unless you don't care what happens to the finish on your wheels.
They RUINED the salad shooter rims on my '95 Z28. I had to use STEEL WOOL to get the residue off the rims, and it STILL didn't all come off. I finally took those pads off & got a set of the regular Performance Friction pads... for half as much money.
There's nothing wrong with the stock GM replacement pads... If I had it to do all over again, I would have just gone with those.
Just my $.02.

Other than slightly better stopping power, Carbon metallic pads are plain junk. They can put enough dust on your wheels to ruin them, they chew up your rotors, and you can't keep your wheels clean for more than 1 or 2 days without them being black again. I ran these on my 96 LT1 and NEVER will again. Those pads are trash.
GM pads are the best pad I have tried yet. Almost zero dust, very decent stopping distance, and my first set last 30K HARD miles.

When I recently installed my KVR rotors I ended up going with PF carbon metallics in front instead of the stock pads since I've had very good luck over the years with them on other vehicles. I can't attest to their track characteristics since mine have been mainly for street use, which they've done exceptionally well. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the price - I got the fronts from my local PF distributor for about $47 (# 0749.20). As a comparison GM lists the stock front pads (# 18026165) for $146! <img src="images/icons/shocked.gif" border="0">

unless you are autox'ing, save your money. Most pads are made almost identical and they are good enough for the street.. thats mod money you're wasting
